From FADA's June 2026 retail reports and new electric buses, trucks, and three-wheelers to tractor launches, fleet electrification initiatives, and key infrastructure developments, the week highlighted India's rapid transition toward cleaner, smarter, and more efficient transportation. India's E-Rickshaw & E-Cart Sales Report - June 2026
India's electric three-wheeler market remained competitive in June 2026. YC Electric led e-rickshaw sales, while J.S. Auto topped the e-cart segment. Hooghly Motors and Aahana Commerce posted the strongest YoY growth in their categories. Although several established OEMs saw annual declines, many recorded monthly improvements. Rising demand for sustainable last-mile passenger and cargo mobility continued to drive EV adoption and strengthen competition across the market.
India's commercial vehicle retail market sold 90,972 units in June 2026, growing 16.88% YoY and 8.53% MoM. LCVs led with 57,031 units, while MCVs recorded the highest monthly growth at 27.31%. Tata Motors retained the top spot with 30,991 units and a 34.07% market share, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra at 25,015 units and 27.50% share. Strong demand from logistics, infrastructure, e-commerce, and last-mile transport continued to drive market growth.
India's three-wheeler retail sales reached 1,20,889 units in June 2026, growing 16.20% YoY and 8.40% MoM. Passenger three-wheelers led with 67,086 units, while goods carriers posted the highest annual growth at 42.50%. Bajaj Auto retained market leadership with 40,883 units (33.82% share), and the Mahindra Group captured over 22%. Passenger e-rickshaw sales improved monthly but declined 9.03% YoY, reflecting mixed EV market trends.
Piaggio Launches Apé WavE Electric Three-Wheeler at ₹2.55 Lakh
Piaggio has launched the Apé WavE electric passenger three-wheeler at ₹2.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Designed for shared mobility, it features a 5.4kWh battery, around 110±5 km real-world range, 3kW motor, 25Nm torque, 40 km/h top speed, and 4.5-hour charging. With a monocoque chassis, full-metal body, and low operating costs, it targets urban and semi-urban fleet operators and individual drivers.
Ashok Leyland has partnered with Rosmerta Recycling to simplify commercial vehicle scrappage through authorised recycling facilities across India. The initiative offers end-to-end support, including deregistration, documentation, competitive scrap value, OEM discounts, and eligible government benefits. It supports the Vehicle Modernisation Program, encourages replacement of old vehicles with cleaner models, and promotes sustainable recycling and lower transport emissions.
EKA Mobility Begins Deployment of 876 Electric Buses in Rajasthan Under PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme
EKA Mobility has begun deploying 876 electric buses in Rajasthan under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, with the first batch flagged off in Jaipur. Operated by Chartered Speed across eight cities, the zero-emission buses feature connected fleet management and wheelchair lift access. The project aims to improve urban public transport, accessibility, and sustainable mobility across the state.
MoRTH and Montra Electric Sign Agreement for Delhi-NCR Fleet Replacement Scheme
Montra Electric has signed two MoUs with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to support the Delhi-NCR Fleet Replacement Scheme. Covering its e-MHCV and e-SCV divisions, the initiative promotes replacing older diesel commercial vehicles with electric alternatives. The move aims to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and accelerate sustainable freight and commercial transport across the NCR region.
JCB India has opened a new 60,000 sq ft 3S dealership in Nashik, operated by Ratnapprabbha World, to strengthen customer support in North Maharashtra. The facility features a four-bay workshop, 150-member team, and LiveLink Command Centre for real-time machine monitoring. It will provide sales, service, spare parts, and support for JCB’s complete construction equipment range.
TVS Motor Company and Indian Oil Partner to Deploy LPG Distribution Fleet Across India
TVS Motor Company has partnered with Indian Oil Corporation through an MoU to modernize LPG last-mile delivery across India. The initiative will initially deploy the TVS King Kargo HD cargo three-wheeler across Indian Oil’s 13,000+ LPG distributors. The partnership aims to reduce operating costs, improve delivery efficiency, optimize total cost of ownership (TCO), lower carbon emissions, and promote sustainable commercial mobility.
EKA Mobility Launches 9M Electric School Bus at Prawaas 5.0, Offers Up to 180 km Range
EKA Mobility has launched its 9M Electric School Bus at Prawaas 5.0, entering the electric school transport segment. Built on a lightweight monocoque platform, it offers 100 kWh and 200 kWh LFP battery options, up to 180 km range, CCS2 fast charging, seating for 43 passengers plus driver, and AIS 052-compliant safety features for reliable, sustainable school transportation.
Mahindra Increases Commercial Vehicle Prices by 2% from 10 July 2026
Mahindra & Mahindra has increased prices across its commercial vehicle range by an average of 2%, effective 10 July 2026. The hike is driven by rising costs of raw materials, including steel, aluminium, copper, rubber, and plastics, along with higher transportation, energy, and sourcing expenses. The final price increase will vary depending on the vehicle model and variant.
Tata Motors Launches Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime Buses with 29 Safety Features at Prawaas 5.0
Tata Motors launched the Ultra Prime and Starbus Prime bus range at Prawaas 5.0, featuring 29 advanced safety technologies. It also showcased the LPO 1620 CNG, Ultra Skool 9/9 EV, Ultra Prime RE Concept, Magic EV, and Winger Plus. Backed by 4,600+ sales and service touchpoints, Tata Motors strengthened its passenger mobility portfolio across CNG, electric, and conventional segments.
BharatBenz Expands Bus Portfolio with Torqshift 1926 AMT Chassis and New 917 School Bus
BharatBenz has launched the Torqshift 1926 AMT heavy-duty bus chassis and the 917 fully built bus to strengthen its passenger transport portfolio. The Torqshift 1926 improves fuel efficiency and reduces driver fatigue with AMT technology, while the 917 targets school and staff transport with advanced safety features like ABS and EVSC. Volvo Buses India has launched India’s first OE-built Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper Coach at PRAWAAS 5.0. The premium coach seats 51 passengers with seater and sleeper options, powered by a VEDX8 engine and I-Shift transmission. It features 360-degree cameras, TPMS, driver monitoring, telematics, onboard toilet, kitchenette, and premium interiors, enhancing safety, comfort, and long-distance travel efficiency.
SWITCH EiV9 Electric Bus Debuts at Prawaas 5.0, Targets City, School and Staff Transport
SWITCH Mobility launched the EiV9 9-metre electric bus at Prawaas 5.0 for city, school, and staff transport. Powered by a 213 kW PMVR motor, it offers multiple battery options, air suspension, USB charging, FDSS, and disc brakes. The company also unveiled the #SwitchKaro campaign to promote EV adoption and showcased the upgraded EiV12 Intercity with premium comfort, fast charging, and SWITCH iON connected technology.
Montra Electric has flagged off the first 65 Rhino 5538 EV trucks from Manesar as part of a 260-truck deployment, one of India’s largest electric heavy truck rollouts. The trucks will support long electrified freight corridors and sectors like cement, steel, mining, and infrastructure. Montra is also expanding its manufacturing and service network to accelerate large-scale zero-emission freight adoption.

India's tractor retail sales crossed 1,00,818 units in June 2026, driven by strong rural demand and farm mechanisation. Mahindra Tractor Division retained the top position with 24.13% market share, followed by Swaraj Division (18.71%) and International Tractors. Eicher and CNH Industrial gained market share, while smaller OEMs saw a significant decline as leading brands strengthened their dominance.
Mahindra has launched the YuvoTech+ 585 DI V1 nationwide in 2WD and 4WD variants. Powered by the mBULL engine with 30% backup torque, it features a 12F+3R transmission, Multi-Speed PTO, SLIPTO dual clutch, heavy-duty hydraulics, power steering, and ergonomic comfort. Sonalika Achieves 20 Lakh Tractor Production Milestone at Hoshiarpur Plant
Sonalika Tractors has produced its 20 lakhth tractor at its Hoshiarpur plant, marking a major manufacturing milestone since starting operations in 1996. The company exports to 150+ countries and recorded 53,661 tractor sales in Q1 FY2026-27, achieving 23.1% year-on-year growth. The milestone reinforces Sonalika’s position as India’s leading tractor exporter and a major global manufacturer.
Rajasthan has waived a major portion of late fees for tractor RC renewals until September 30, 2026, capping penalties at ₹2,500 (up to one year) and ₹5,000 (over one year). The state also made separate commercial registration mandatory for tractor-trolleys used commercially, while agricultural vehicles remain exempt. Enforcement will begin in five districts.
The Centre has revamped the VB-GRAM-G rural employment scheme from July 1, 2026. Workers must receive wages within 15 days or be compensated for delays. The annual employment guarantee has increased from 100 to 125 days, with ₹25,863 crore released to states. The scheme also continues DBT payments, provides unemployment allowance, and strengthens transparency and accountability.
