Volvo Buses India, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has launched India's first OE-built Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper Coach at PRAWAAS 5.0 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The new premium coach combines seater and sleeper configurations on a single platform, giving operators the flexibility to serve both short- and long-distance routes while offering passengers a luxurious travel experience.

The launch strengthens Volvo's premium coach portfolio in India and comes as demand for safer, more comfortable, and premium intercity travel continues to grow.

Built for India's Changing Long-Distance Travel Needs

India's long-distance bus travel market is evolving rapidly as passengers expect greater comfort, safety, and luxury. At the same time, fleet operators are looking for vehicles that improve productivity and operational efficiency.

Built on Volvo's globally proven coach platform, the Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper is specially designed for intercity, tourism, and pilgrimage operations across India. The coach combines Volvo's engineering expertise with features developed to suit Indian travel requirements.

Flexible Seating and Sleeper Layout

The 15-metre-long Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper offers seating and sleeping options in one vehicle.

The coach accommodates a total of 51 passengers, including:

• 24 upper-deck sleeper berths

• 27 premium lower-deck seats with calf support

The sleeper layout includes 21 upper-deck berths and three rear sleeper berths, giving operators greater flexibility for different travel routes.

Powered by Volvo's fuel-efficient VEDX8 diesel engine paired with the I-Shift automated transmission, the coach is built for long-distance operations. It also provides 6 cubic metres of luggage space, helping operators maximize carrying capacity without compromising passenger comfort.
