Passenger e-rickshaw sales improved 7.79% MoM but declined 9.03% YoY, indicating mixed momentum in the electric three-wheeler segment.

Although passenger e-rickshaws showed a recovery over the previous month, the segment continued to face year-on-year pressure, highlighting the changing dynamics within India's electric three-wheeler market.
India's three-wheeler market continued its positive growth momentum in June 2026, with total retail sales reaching 1,20,889 units, compared to 1,11,526 units in May 2026 and 1,04,035 units in June 2025.
This represents a strong 8.40% month-on-month (MoM) growth and an impressive 16.20% year-on-year (YoY) increase, highlighting sustained demand across both passenger and cargo transportation segments.
The market's growth was largely driven by robust performances in the passenger and goods three-wheeler categories, while electric passenger e-rickshaws continued to witness a decline compared to the previous year.

The category registered a healthy 10.62% MoM growth along with a strong 29.56% YoY increase, indicating continued demand for last-mile passenger transportation across urban and semi-urban markets.
The goods carrier segment posted 14,247 units during the month. Sales increased 5.67% MoM and delivered an impressive 42.50% YoY growth, making it one of the fastest-growing segments in the three-wheeler market during June 2026.
Passenger e-rickshaws recorded 32,133 units in June 2026. The segment grew 7.79% compared to May 2026 but declined 9.03% on a year-on-year basis, showing that although monthly demand improved, sales remained below last year's levels.
The electric cargo three-wheeler segment registered 7,298 units during the month.
Sales declined 2.52% MoM, but the segment still recorded a 6.68% YoY increase, reflecting steady annual growth despite a slight monthly slowdown.
The personal-use three-wheeler segment remained the smallest category with 125 units sold.
Despite its small size, the segment posted the highest monthly growth of 22.55% and achieved a 32.98% YoY increase.

Bajaj Auto retained its leadership in India's three-wheeler market during June 2026 by retailing 40,883 units and securing a 33.82% market share. The company continued to lead the segment despite a slight decline in market share compared to the same month last year.
Mahindra remained one of the strongest performers in June 2026.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited retailed 13,439 units, capturing an 11.12% market share.
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Ltd followed closely with 13,417 units and an 11.10% market share.
Together, the Mahindra Group accounted for over 22% of the total three-wheeler market, reflecting its strong presence across both conventional and electric three-wheelers.
Piaggio Vehicles recorded 8,887 units in June 2026 and secured a 7.35% market share, improving both its retail volume and market presence compared to the previous year.
TVS Motor retailed 6,408 units, achieving a 5.30% market share. The company registered strong year-on-year growth in sales, further strengthening its position in the three-wheeler segment.
Atul Auto sold 2,863 units during the month and held a 2.37% market share. The company continued to maintain steady demand and improved its retail performance over June 2025.
YC Electric retailed 2,360 units, accounting for a 1.95% market share. However, the company witnessed a decline in both sales volume and market share compared to the previous year.
Dilli Electric Auto registered 1,774 units and captured a 1.47% market share, recording a modest improvement in retail sales over June 2025.
Saera Electric Auto sold 1,639 units with a 1.36% market share. Despite maintaining its presence in the market, the company recorded lower sales than the same month last year.
Mini Metro EV LLP retailed 1,228 units and secured a 1.02% market share, showing a slight improvement in both sales volume and market share compared to June 2025.
Other manufacturers collectively contributed 41,408 units, accounting for 34.25% of the overall market. This reflects the highly competitive nature of India's three-wheeler industry, where several regional and emerging manufacturers continue to contribute significantly to total retail sales.
