Overall CV Market Performance - June 2026

India's commercial vehicle market delivered another strong performance in June 2026, with total retail sales rising to 90,972 units, compared to 83,823 units in May 2026 and 77,836 units in June 2025.

The market registered an impressive 8.53% MoM growth while achieving an even stronger 16.88% YoY increase. The steady rise in commercial vehicle demand reflects healthy activity across logistics, transportation, cargo movement, and business operations, with most vehicle categories contributing positively to the market's growth.

Segment-Wise Market Analysis

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV)

The LCV segment continued to dominate the commercial vehicle market by recording 57,031 units in June 2026. Compared to 50,348 units sold in May 2026, the segment grew by 13.27% MoM.

On an annual basis, LCV sales climbed 21.10% YoY from 47,096 units in June 2025, making it one of the strongest-performing categories. The segment's consistent growth highlights rising demand for vehicles used in urban deliveries, last-mile logistics, small business transportation, and distribution services.

Medium Commercial Vehicles (MCV)

The MCV segment emerged as the fastest-growing category in June 2026, recording 9,714 units, up from 7,630 units in May 2026.

With an impressive 27.31% MoM increase, MCVs posted the highest monthly growth among all commercial vehicle segments. The category also registered a healthy 16.81% YoY growth compared to 8,316 units sold in June 2025, reflecting improving demand for medium-duty cargo and regional transport operations.

Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV)

The HCV segment recorded 24,181 units during June 2026, compared to 25,797 units in May 2026.

While the segment experienced a 6.26% MoM decline, it maintained positive momentum on a yearly basis with 8.26% YoY growth over the 22,336 units sold in June 2025. The annual increase indicates continued demand from sectors such as long-distance freight transportation, infrastructure projects, and heavy cargo movement despite the slight monthly correction.

Others

The Others category reported 46 units in June 2026, marginally lower than 48 units in May 2026.

The segment declined by 4.17% MoM and recorded a 47.73% YoY decrease compared to 88 units sold in June 2025. Despite the decline, this category continues to account for only a small share of the overall commercial vehicle market.

OEM Performance Overview

Tata Motors Ltd

Tata Motors remained the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in June 2026 by retail sales, delivering 30,991 units and securing a 34.07% market share. The company also improved its share from 32.52% in June last year, reflecting sustained demand across its commercial vehicle portfolio.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd

Mahindra & Mahindra continued to hold the second position with 25,015 retail units and a 27.50% market share, up from 26.32% a year ago. The company's overall performance was further supported by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, which sold 1,774 units, highlighting the group's growing presence across both conventional and electric commercial mobility segments.

Ashok Leyland Ltd

Ashok Leyland retailed 15,337 units during June 2026, accounting for 16.86% of the market. While the company recorded higher sales than the previous year, its market share eased from 18.18%, indicating stronger competition from other manufacturers.

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd

VE Commercial Vehicles registered 7,937 units in June 2026 with a market share of 8.72%. The company improved its retail volumes compared to June 2025, although its market share saw a slight decline from 9.60%.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd

Maruti Suzuki delivered 4,436 commercial vehicles during the month and increased its market share to 4.88%, compared to 4.36% in June 2025. The company continued to strengthen its position in the light commercial vehicle segment.

Force Motors Ltd

Force Motors reported retail sales of 2,026 units, capturing 2.23% of the market. Although the company remained among the leading OEMs, both its sales volume and market share declined compared to the previous year.

SML Mahindra Ltd

SML Mahindra sold 1,908 units in June 2026 and secured a 2.10% market share. While retail volumes remained above 1,900 units, the company's share was lower than the 2.67% recorded in June 2025.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles registered 1,663 units, accounting for 1.83% of total commercial vehicle retail sales. The company's sales remained almost unchanged year-on-year, while its market share witnessed a marginal decline.

Other OEMs

Manufacturers grouped under the "Others" category collectively retailed 1,659 units, accounting for 1.82% of the market. Their combined market share improved from 1.24% recorded in June 2025.
