EKA Mobility has started the first phase of its 876 electric bus deployment in Rajasthan under the Central Government's PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme. The initial batch of e-buses was flagged off in Jaipur by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, marking the beginning of one of the state's largest electric public transport projects.
The deployment aims to strengthen public transportation while promoting clean and sustainable mobility across Rajasthan.
The newly launched electric buses are part of a total procurement order of 876 e-buses that will be deployed across Rajasthan in phases. This marks the first operational phase of the complete order, which is expected to improve urban public transport and support the state's transition to greener mobility solutions.
The procurement contract was awarded under the Central Government's PM e-Bus Sewa initiative. The scheme is focused on expanding electric bus services in cities that do not have well-developed public transport systems.
EKA Mobility secured the contract in partnership with Chartered Speed. Under the consortium, EKA Mobility will supply the electric buses, while Chartered Speed will be responsible for operating, managing, and handling the deployment logistics of all 876 buses.
The electric bus fleet will be introduced across eight cities in Rajasthan, helping improve urban connectivity and reduce dependence on conventional diesel-powered public transport.
The newly deployed buses are built on EKA Mobility's modular electric commercial vehicle platform. They are equipped with connected fleet management technology that enables real-time vehicle tracking and better fleet monitoring.
Since the buses are fully electric, they produce zero tailpipe emissions, helping reduce air pollution and support cleaner urban transportation.
To make public transport more inclusive, the new electric buses feature an integrated wheelchair lift door mechanism specially designed for Divyang passengers. This accessibility feature will make boarding easier and provide a more convenient travel experience for passengers with disabilities.
Commenting on the deployment, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said that the Rajasthan rollout is an important step in the company's growing commercial electric vehicle expansion. He added that the company has already established operations in Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh, and continues to expand its presence across multiple regional corridors in India.
The Rajasthan deployment further strengthens EKA Mobility's position in the country's rapidly growing electric public transport sector while supporting India's transition towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility.
The deployment of the first batch of 876 electric buses in Rajasthan marks a major milestone for both EKA Mobility and the state's public transport system. With modern electric buses, advanced fleet management technology, accessible features for Divyang passengers, and operations across eight cities, the project is expected to improve urban mobility while contributing to cleaner, greener, and more sustainable transportation under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme.
