Piaggio and SBI Join Hands to Finance 3-Wheelers Under UP CM Yuva Yojana
Piaggio Vehicles and SBI have partnered under Uttar Pradesh's CM Yuva Yojana to provide financing for electric and ICE three-wheelers. Eligible entrepreneurs aged 25-40 can avail up to 90% funding, government-backed subsidies, interest-free loans, and no-guarantor financing. SBI's 1,600+ branch network and Piaggio's dedicated help centres will simplify vehicle ownership and support self-employment opportunities across the state.
VECV Sells 7,978 Commercial Vehicles in May 2026, Records 7.8% Growth
VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) sold 7,978 units in May 2026, up 7.8% year-on-year. Eicher Trucks and Buses sales grew 7.3% to 7,789 units, driven by a 9.1% rise in domestic sales to 7,375 units. Volvo Trucks and Buses recorded strong 32.2% growth with 189 units sold, while exports declined 17.2% to 414 units.
Tata Motors Registers 32,850 Commercial Vehicle Sales in May 2026, Records 17% Growth
Tata Motors sold 32,850 commercial vehicles in May 2026, registering 17% year-on-year growth. Domestic CV sales rose 19% to 30,784 units, driven by strong demand across all major segments. The SCV Cargo & Pickup category led growth with a 30% increase, followed by Passenger Carriers at 21%. HCV and ILMCV Trucks also grew steadily, while commercial vehicle exports declined 9% to 2,066 units.
Ashok Leyland May 2026 Sales Report: Total CV Sales Rise 4% to 13,288 Units
Ashok Leyland sold 13,288 commercial vehicles in May 2026, up 3.75% year-on-year. Domestic sales grew 2.21% to 12,893 units, while exports more than doubled, rising 103.61% to 395 units. The LCV segment remained the key growth driver, with gross sales increasing 15%. Strong export momentum and healthy LCV demand helped offset declining M&HCV sales.
Electric 3-Wheeler Goods Segment: Mahindra Leads Sales in May 2026, Bajaj Auto Shows Strong Growth
India's electric three-wheeler goods carrier market remained strong in May 2026. Mahindra Last Mile Mobility led with 615 registrations, followed by Bajaj Auto at 524 units, which grew 20.5% YoY. Tata Motors has launched the new bi-fuel Tata Intra V40 pickup, powered by a 1.2-litre CNG-petrol engine producing 58 bhp and 106 Nm torque. It offers a 1,525 kg payload, 9.7-foot load body, and a 110-litre CNG tank for extended range. The pickup also features Fleet Edge telematics, a durable chassis, and service support for efficient last-mile cargo operations.
JBM Auto Dominates India's Electric Bus Market with 49% Share in May 2026

Cabinet Approves ₹9,585 Crore Scheme to Replace Old Trucks and Buses in Delhi-NCR
The government has approved a ₹9,585 crore scheme to replace BS-IV and older trucks and buses in Delhi-NCR with BS-VI or electric vehicles. Eligible owners will receive a 5% loan interest subsidy, fuel vouchers up to ₹4,800 per month, and OEM discounts of around 8%. The initiative targets over 1.9 lakh trucks and 16,000 buses to help reduce pollution and promote cleaner transportation.
Blue Energy Motors has crossed 100 million kilometres of fleet operations with over 1,400 EV and LNG trucks running across India. The company has helped reduce more than 30,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. Its LNG trucks offer up to 2,400 km range, while battery-swapping technology enables battery replacement in under five minutes, supporting efficient and sustainable freight transportation.
EKA Mobility has rolled out its 1,000th electric small commercial vehicle from its Chakan plant in Pune. The milestone vehicle, an EKA 6S, was delivered to the Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust, while an EKA 3S was presented to Netherlands Ambassador Marisa Gerards. The facility employs over 1,000 people, and EKA plans annual capacities of 15,000 buses, 24,000 SCVs, and 4,000 trucks.

Escorts Kubota sold 12,310 tractors in May 2026, registering 18.9% year-on-year growth. Domestic sales rose 22.5% to 11,887 units, driven by strong rural demand, favorable farm conditions, and positive farmer sentiment. Export sales declined 35% to 423 units. For April-May 2026, total tractor sales increased 21.4% to 23,167 units, supported by robust domestic market performance.

Mahindra & Mahindra sold 49,695 tractors in May 2026, recording 22% year-on-year growth. Domestic sales rose 23% to 47,845 units, while exports increased 7% to 1,850 units. Strong rural demand and favorable farming conditions supported growth. For April-May 2026, total tractor sales reached 98,106 units, up 22% compared to the same period last year.
VST Tillers Tractors Sales in May 2026 Rise 28.28%, Total Sales Reach 4,472 Units
VST Tillers Tractors reported total sales of 4,472 units in May 2026, up 28.28% year-on-year. Power tiller sales surged 31.9% to 4,019 units, while tractor sales grew 3.19% to 453 units. For April-May 2026, total sales reached 7,955 units, registering a strong 37.01% growth, driven mainly by rising demand for power tillers.
The government has simplified PMFBY crop insurance claim rules for families of deceased farmers. A succession certificate is no longer required; claims can now be settled through a registered nominee, a will, or a ₹50 notarized affidavit. With fewer documents and simplified procedures, pending claims will be cleared faster, ensuring quicker financial support and reducing legal and administrative burdens on farmer families.
Yamaha Agriculture has launched a new herbicide attachment for its Prospr autonomous farming platform, developed with Croplands Equipment. The system automates spraying, nozzle control, and spray rate adjustments to improve weed management in orchards and vineyards. Prospr offers up to 40 hours of runtime and 70% lower fuel consumption. While adoption in India may face challenges, it could help address labour shortages and improve farming efficiency through pilot projects.
