Tata Motors has reported strong commercial vehicle (CV) sales performance for May 2026. The company sold 32,850 commercial vehicles during the month, registering a 17% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to 28,147 units sold in May 2025.
The growth was mainly driven by strong demand in the domestic market, where key segments such as HCV Trucks, ILMCV Trucks, Passenger Carriers, and SCV Cargo & Pickup vehicles recorded positive growth. However, commercial vehicle exports witnessed a decline during the month.

The category-wise sales data highlights the company's strong performance across most domestic commercial vehicle segments.

Tata Motors sold 30,784 commercial vehicles in the domestic market in May 2026, compared to 25,872 units in May 2025. This represents a 19% growth, showing healthy demand across transportation, logistics, infrastructure, and passenger mobility sectors.
The domestic market remained the key growth driver for the company during the month.
The Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) Trucks segment recorded sales of 7,877 units in May 2026, up from 7,106 units in the same month last year.
The segment grew by 11% YoY, supported by continued activity in infrastructure development, construction projects, and long-distance freight transportation.
The Intermediate, Light and Medium Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) Trucks segment reported sales of 5,331 units, compared to 4,954 units in May 2025.
This resulted in 8% growth, driven by increasing demand for regional cargo movement and distribution operations across the country.
Passenger carriers emerged as one of the best-performing segments for Tata Motors during May 2026.
Sales reached 5,757 units, compared to 4,748 units sold in May 2025, registering a 21% increase.
The growth was supported by rising demand for school buses, employee transportation services, and public mobility solutions.
The SCV Cargo and Pickup segment delivered the highest growth among all domestic categories.
Sales climbed to 11,819 units in May 2026 from 9,064 units in May 2025, reflecting a strong 30% growth.
The segment continued to benefit from increasing demand from e-commerce companies, last-mile delivery services, and small business logistics operations, making it the largest contributor to Tata Motors' domestic CV sales growth.
While domestic sales remained strong, Tata Motors' commercial vehicle exports experienced a decline.
The company exported 2,066 units in May 2026, compared to 2,275 units during May 2025, resulting in a 9% drop.
Despite the decline, Tata Motors continued to maintain its presence across international commercial vehicle markets.
Tata Motors delivered a solid commercial vehicle performance in May 2026, with total sales reaching 32,850 units and overall growth of 17%. Strong domestic demand across HCV Trucks, ILMCV Trucks, Passenger Carriers, and especially SCV Cargo & Pickup vehicles helped drive growth. Although exports declined, the robust domestic performance ensured another positive month for the company in the commercial vehicle segment.
