Tata Motors has launched the new Intra V40, a bi-fuel CNG and petrol pickup truck designed for last-mile logistics and cargo transportation. The new small commercial vehicle aims to help operators reduce running costs while offering higher payload capacity and longer driving range.
As India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors continues to strengthen its presence in the alternate fuel segment with the introduction of the Intra V40. The vehicle is specially developed for fleet owners, transporters, and cargo operators who require efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions.
The Tata Intra V40 comes with a 1.2-litre bi-fuel engine that runs on both CNG and petrol. The engine delivers 58 bhp of power and 106 Nm of torque, making it suitable for carrying heavy loads across urban and semi-urban delivery routes.
One of the key highlights of the new pickup is its class-focused payload capacity of 1,525 kg. The vehicle also features a 9.7-foot load body, allowing operators to transport more goods in a single trip and improve business productivity.
To support longer operations between refuelling stops, the Intra V40 is equipped with a 110-litre CNG tank. The bi-fuel setup allows drivers to switch between CNG and petrol, offering greater flexibility, especially in regions where CNG availability may be limited.
This configuration helps reduce fuel expenses while ensuring uninterrupted operations during long delivery schedules.
The new Intra V40 is built on a hydroformed chassis, which enhances structural strength and durability. The pickup also comes with front disc brakes for improved braking performance and safety.
For driver comfort and convenience, Tata Motors has provided a walk-through cabin design that allows easier movement inside the vehicle during operations.
The pickup is equipped with Fleet Edge telematics technology, enabling fleet operators to remotely monitor vehicle performance and access predictive maintenance alerts. This connected vehicle solution helps improve uptime and operational efficiency.
According to Tata Motors, the Intra V40 is based on the company's established small commercial vehicle platform, which has been widely used across various cargo transportation applications.
Speaking on the launch, Pinaki Haldar, Vice President and Business Head of Tata Motors' Small Commercial Vehicle & Pickup Unit, said that the introduction of the Intra V40 aligns with the company's strategy of expanding its alternate fuel vehicle portfolio as demand for lower operating costs continues to grow among fleet operators.
With the launch of the Intra V40, Tata Motors now offers four bi-fuel commercial vehicles, including the Ace Pro Bi-fuel, Ace CNG 2.0, Intra V20 Gold, and the newly launched Intra V40.
The company also offers three electric commercial vehicle options in its portfolio: the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV 1000, and Intra EV Pickup.
The Tata Intra V40 is backed by Tata Motors' Sampoorna Seva 2.0 service programme. The support package includes lifecycle maintenance services and roadside assistance, helping customers maintain vehicle uptime and reduce operational disruptions.
The launch of the Tata Intra V40 strengthens Tata Motors' position in the small commercial vehicle segment. With its bi-fuel technology, 1,525 kg payload capacity, large CNG tank, connected telematics features, and comprehensive service support, the new pickup offers a practical and economical solution for last-mile cargo operators looking to improve efficiency and lower operating costs.
