Supported by Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) through CKD kit supply, the facility will produce up to 5,000 Mercedes-Benz Axor trucks and bus chassis annually for the Indonesian market. Integrating German engineering, Indian manufacturing, and local expertise, the plant meets global standards and reflects Daimler’s commitment to Southeast Asia and India’s growing export role.

JBM EV Launches ECOLIFE Electric Bus in Europe

JBM Electric Vehicles launched its ECOLIFE electric bus at the UITP 2025 Summit in Hamburg, marking its European entry. The bus offers a 400 km range, ultra-fast charging, ADAS, and eco-friendly features. JBM also opened its European HQ in Frankfurt and partnered with KazenMaier to deploy 100+ e-buses in Germany. With 165 million km run and 1 billion passengers served globally, JBM aims for rapid growth in Europe, supporting sustainable urban transport through its E-Verse ecosystem and in-house EV technology.

Daimler Commercial Vehicles Shifts Gears in Indonesia with New-Gen Truck Plant

Daimler has launched a modern truck and bus manufacturing plant in Cikarang, Indonesia, replacing its older Jakarta unit. Built with Indian engineering support from DICV and costing IDR 500 billion, the facility boosts efficiency and will produce Mercedes-Benz Axor trucks for the local market. Leveraging trade pacts, Daimler plans to export across Southeast Asia. The plant reflects Daimler’s global strategy, combining German, Indian, and Indonesian strengths. Battery Smart and Delhi Traffic Police Organise Road Safety Program for E-Rickshaw Drivers in Delhi

Battery Smart and Delhi Traffic Police held a road safety program for over 100 e-rickshaw drivers in Delhi, focusing on traffic rules, battery safety, and monsoon driving tips. Led by Shri Ajay Kumar and Battery Smart officials, the initiative emphasized responsible road behaviour. Select drivers were awarded certificates for their safety efforts. Battery Smart aims to promote safer driving through ongoing training, supporting 70,000+ drivers via 1,500+ battery swap stations and over 75 million swaps across 50 cities since 2019.

50% Subsidy on Three-Wheeler Vehicle with Ice Box for Fishermen in Bihar

Bihar's Mukhyamantri Machhua Kalyan Yojana 2025 offers 50% subsidy on ice box-fitted three-wheelers for fish sellers. Free kits for fishing and marketing will also be provided. Eligible groups include SC, ST, FFPO, and Jeevika members. Applications must be submitted online atfisheries.bihar.gov.in by 31 August 2025. Distribution will take place through camps after verification. This scheme aims to improve fish hygiene, enhance income, and create jobs in rural Bihar’s fisheries sector.

Each toll plaza crossing counts as one trip, aiming to reduce wait times and toll payment hassles. Mahindra Introduces the New FURIO 8 Light Commercial Vehicle Range

Mahindra has launched the FURIO 8 LCVs with a mileage guarantee, offering a return option if fuel efficiency is not better than current vehicles. Available in 4-tyre (20 ft) and 6-tyre (22 ft) variants, it features a wide 7-ft load area and mDi Tech engine with FuelSmart technology. Integrated iMAXX telematics enables live tracking and vehicle diagnostics. India’s Tractor Sales Rise 9% in May 2025: Strong Rural Demand and Monsoon Drive Growth

India’s domestic tractor sales rose 9% in May 2025 to 90,500 units, driven by early monsoon and improved farm sentiment. Mahindra led with 38,914 units sold, despite an 8% export dip. Escorts Kubota saw slight overall growth, with exports up 71.3% but a 2% domestic dip. Sonalika hit record May sales with 14,213 units. Exports also rose 1.3% YoY to 8,930 units. Tractor Sales in India Expected to Grow 4–7% in FY26, Says ICRA

India’s tractor industry is expected to grow by 4–7% in FY26, according to ICRA, driven by a favourable monsoon, increased farm output, and expected pre-buying before the rollout of TREM V emission norms in April 2026. Kharif crop output rose by 7.9% and rabi sowing by 1.5%, boosting farmer income. Early rainfall already lifted May sales by 9.1%. Despite rising steel costs, stable credit profiles and strong rural demand should support consistent tractor sales.

Isobutanol Could Replace Diesel in Tractors, Says Nitin Gadkari

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is pushing for cleaner fuels like isobutanol to replace diesel in tractors and construction machines. Isobutanol, made from ethanol, offers higher energy and better diesel compatibility. It can be blended up to 10% or used fully. As diesel use rises and India aims for 20% ethanol blending by 2030, isobutanol offers a promising alternative.
