Key Highlights:
Tata Elxsi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infineon Technologies to jointly build electric vehicle (EV) subsystems for the Indian market. The aim is to offer ready-to-deploy, cost-efficient, and safety-compliant EV solutions across vehicle categories.
Focus on All Vehicle Segments
The partnership will cover electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles. India is seeing a 25–30% growth in EV sales in 2024, especially a 28% rise in two- and three-wheeler sales. This move targets the growing demand for advanced EV technology.
Combining Strengths
Tata Elxsi will handle design, system integration, and testing. Infineon will provide access to advanced semiconductor components, including silicon carbide (SiC) devices, microcontrollers, and integrated circuits. The collaboration ensures that systems meet global safety standards, like ASIL-D under ISO 26262.
Key Areas of Development
The partnership will focus on:
These systems will not only support India’s EV market but may also be extended to sectors like eVTOLs, off-highway vehicles, and energy infrastructure in the future.
Support for India’s EV Goals
This initiative supports NITI Aayog’s electrification targets:
