Distribution through camps after beneficiary verification.
The Bihar government has launched a new welfare scheme for fishermen under the Mukhyamantri Machhua Kalyan Yojana 2025. This initiative aims to support fish farmers and fish sellers by promoting clean fish marketing and boosting employment in rural areas. As part of the scheme, the government is offering a 50% subsidy on three-wheeler vehicles fitted with ice boxes and free distribution kits for fish catching and selling.
Under this scheme, selected fishermen and fish sellers will be provided with a three-wheeler (tricycle) vehicle equipped with an ice box to transport fish hygienically. This facility will be given at 50% subsidy, helping sellers maintain the freshness of fish and expand their business.
The scheme is designed to benefit various groups involved in fisheries:
Members of Matsyajivi Sahayog Samiti
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
Members of Jeevika Groups
Fish Farmer Producer Organizations (FFPOs)
The main goal is to provide support for both fishing activities and the hygienic marketing of fish. This support will not only improve income and profit for fish farmers and vendors but also generate new employment opportunities in rural Bihar.
The scheme is being implemented by the Directorate of Fisheries, under the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Government of Bihar. Here’s how the implementation process works:
Quotation Submission: Selected beneficiaries must collect and submit a quotation for the three-wheeler vehicle and kit from listed suppliers to the District Fisheries Office.
Deposit Contribution: Beneficiaries will deposit their share of the cost via Bank Draft (DD) to the supplier or district office.
Verification: The District Fisheries Officer will verify the receipt and confirmation from both beneficiary and supplier.
Work Order: A work order will be issued for the supply of vehicles and kits.
Distribution: Camps will be organized at the district level for the distribution of the vehicles, ice boxes, and marketing kits.
Applicants must include their mobile number, bank account details, and IFSC code in the application.
A postcard-size photo of the applicant at their fish selling location must be attached.
A self-signed declaration confirming that the fish selling site is dispute-free is mandatory.
Those who have previously received benefits under similar vehicle schemes are not eligible.
A committee led by the Deputy Fisheries Director will handle the selection of beneficiaries.
Interested fish sellers and fishermen can apply online for the Mukhyamantri Machhua Kalyan Yojana 2025 through the official website:
