This foundation is a New York State-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation established in early 2025, following Informa plc’s acquisition of Effie Worldwide. Informa also owns the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

About Effie Lions Foundation

The Effie Lions Foundation has been created to educate and empower the next generation of marketing talent worldwide, with a special focus on under-represented communities. It combines the legacy of two prestigious recognitions in the marketing world, the Effie Awards, known for rewarding marketing effectiveness, and Cannes Lions, known for celebrating creativity in advertising.

The foundation’s Board of Directors holds full voting authority, with key responsibilities including strategic guidance, maintaining financial stability, and ensuring the integrity of the foundation’s mission.

Singh will serve as the regional representative, playing a crucial role in tailoring the foundation’s programmes to address the unique needs of marketers in India and South Asia.

Singh expressed his gratitude by stating,

“I am very honoured and naturally delighted. The Effie Lions Foundation represents the apex of marketing effectiveness and creative impact. This role recognises my 21 years in marketing, including creating iconic brands and campaigns, serving as CMO since 2011, and writing over 800 articles in the last 7–10 years.”

Singh’s Longstanding Relationship with Effie

Shubhranshu Singh has been actively associated with Effie since 2020, having served as:

  • Head of the APAC jury twice

  • Jury member of the ‘Global Best of the Best’

  • Part of the 2021 IRIDIUM jury, the highest honour for the most effective marketing campaign globally

His inclusion in the board marks a significant continuation of this journey, now from a global strategic position.

Responsibilities and Role on the Board

As a board member, Singh will have the opportunity to:

  • Shape the future of marketing talent

  • Promote diversity and inclusion within the industry

  • Collaborate with global leaders across sectors including media, academia, non-profits, and global brands

Board members are expected to serve on two board committees and attend two annual meetings, one in January (typically in New York or London) and one during the Cannes Lions Festival in June.

A Step Towards Inclusive Brand Building

Singh’s appointment highlights India’s growing influence in global marketing and reinforces the importance of inclusive brand development. His experience across industries, global leadership roles, and deep understanding of the Indian and South Asian markets will be vital in shaping the foundation’s programmes in the region.

With this development, the Effie Lions Foundation takes a powerful step forward in ensuring that future marketing leaders come from all corners of the world, supported by strong industry mentors and a global vision.
