To make highway travel more convenient and cost-effective, the government will roll out a new FASTag-based annual pass for private vehicles starting August 15, 2025, priced at ₹3,000. This was announced by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with a formal amendment to the National Highway Fee Rules, 2008.

This new pass eliminates the need for repeated toll deductions and provides relief to drivers often affected by toll plazas located within short distances (like 60 km) of each other.
