Tata Motors Launches Two New Vehicle Scrapping Centres in Lucknow and Raipur

Key Highlights:

  • Tata Motors opened two new vehicle scrapping centres in Lucknow and Raipur under its Re.Wi.Re initiative.
  • Raipur can scrap 25,000 vehicles yearly; Lucknow handles 15,000 annually.
  • Both centres dismantle all types of vehicles, from two-wheelers to commercial vehicles.
  • These centres support cleaner mobility and follow the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy.
  • Tata Motors now runs 12 digital, eco-friendly scrapping facilities across India.

Tata Motors has announced the opening of two new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) located in Lucknow and Raipur. These centres were inaugurated virtually by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. The move is part of Tata Motors’ Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect initiative and supports the government’s National Vehicle Scrappage Policy.

Focus on Cleaner Mobility and Efficient Recycling

Shri Nitin Gadkari emphasized that these facilities align with India’s push for cleaner and more fuel-efficient transport. He added that the scrapping centres will help recover valuable materials from old vehicles while making the scrapping process easier and safer for vehicle owners.

Facilities Equipped to Dismantle All Vehicle Types

The new centres can dismantle end-of-life vehicles across all categories and brands. This includes two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles. The Raipur centre, managed by Raipur Green Energy Pvt. Ltd., can process up to 25,000 vehicles per year. The Lucknow centre, operated by Moto Scrapland Pvt. Ltd., has an annual capacity of 15,000 vehicles.

Tata Motors’ Commitment to Sustainability

Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, highlighted that the Re.Wi.Re initiative reflects the company’s dedication to sustainable and responsible business practices. With these new centres, Tata Motors’ network can now dismantle more than 1,75,000 vehicles annually across India.

Current scrapping facilities in India

Tata Motors currently runs ten other scrapping facilities in cities such as Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, Guwahati, and Kolkata. Each facility uses a fully digital and paperless system to ensure safe and compliant removal of tyres, batteries, fluids, and other vehicle parts, following national scrappage policy standards.
