Let’s explore the top stories shaping the week.
Daimler India Welcomes PM Modi’s Next-Generation GST Reform Plans
Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming “next-generation” GST reforms, expected by Diwali, have been welcomed by Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV). The company sees the move as a boost for the commercial vehicle industry, lowering operating costs, improving affordability, and benefiting fleet operators, OEMs, and suppliers. DICV’s MD Satyakam Arya said the reforms align with Atmanirbhar Bharat, encouraging local manufacturing, job creation, and global competitiveness. The changes are expected to drive demand, foster innovation, and strengthen India’s position as a manufacturing hub.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has revised incentives under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, impacting e-rickshaws, e-carts, and L5 e-3Ws. For FY25-26, subsidies are capped at ₹12,500 per vehicle, with overall support of ₹50 crore. L5 e-3Ws will get ₹50,000 subsidy till November 7, 2024, reduced to ₹25,000 till March 31, 2026, with ₹857 crore allocated. The scheme, with a ₹10,900 crore outlay, aims to balance EV adoption, encourage timely registrations, and support India’s transition to clean mobility.
SIAM Urges Govt to Include N1 Category in PM e-Drive Scheme
SIAM has urged the government to include N1 category light commercial vehicles (LCVs) up to 3.5 tonnes under the PM e-Drive scheme. These vehicles, forming 60% of the CV industry, are crucial for last-mile delivery and urban logistics, typically traveling 60–200 km daily—making them ideal for electrification. Inclusion would cut carbon emissions, lower operating costs, and benefit small businesses. SIAM emphasized that electrifying LCVs will improve air quality, logistics efficiency, and support India’s sustainability and clean mobility goals.

With a dual-brand strategy—Youdha for mass market and Lohia for premium—the company is expanding into cargo, garbage, and municipal E3Ws. Its Kashipur plant is being upgraded to produce one lakh vehicles annually. Backed by innovation, real-world durability, and urban partnerships, Zuperia aims to achieve ₹1,000 crore revenue by 2030, strengthening its position in India’s growing electric three-wheeler market.
Escorts Kubota Plans to Invest ₹4,500 Cr in Yamuna Expressway Tractor Plant
Escorts Kubota will invest ₹4,500 crore to build a new tractor plant on 190 acres along the Yamuna Expressway, creating around 4,000 jobs in phases. In the first phase, ₹2,000 crore will be invested in a modern greenfield facility with advanced technology, supporting tractors and equipment production. The project strengthens India’s role as a global hub for farm and construction machinery while boosting Uttar Pradesh’s industrial growth. This strategic investment also supports R&D, global expansion, and affordable, high-quality solutions for farmers.
Sonalika Takes a Big Step – Transparent Tractor Service Costs Now Online!
Sonalika Tractors has launched an online service cost checker, allowing farmers to view exact, part-wise service costs for their tractor models on its website. By entering tractor details and HMR, farmers get instant cost transparency with no hidden charges. They can also book services online by submitting basic details and verifying via OTP. The Sonalika team or nearest dealer then connects for assistance. This initiative ensures hassle-free servicing, builds trust, and sets a new benchmark for transparency in the tractor industry.
Wheat Prices Continue to Rise, Rates Touch Rs 3550 Per Quintal
Wheat prices in India are rising steadily, with most mandis trading above the MSP. Madhya Pradesh’s Sharbati wheat fetches Rs 3337–3550 per quintal, while Pune records the highest at Rs 5000. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and other states also show strong rates. Experts expect prices to remain firm during festive demand due to limited government procurement. Premium wheat varieties continue to earn higher returns, benefiting farmers, though future fluctuations may occur due to weather, policies, and international trends.
Government to Launch National Mission on Natural Farming with ₹2481 Crore Investment
The government will launch the National Mission on Natural Farming on 23 August 2025, investing ₹2,481 crore to cover 7.5 lakh hectares and benefit 1 crore farmers. The mission will form 15,000 clusters, set up 10,000 bio-input resource centres, and provide certification and branding support. Real-time online monitoring will ensure transparency. Aimed at boosting yields, reducing input costs, improving soil health, and increasing farmer income, this initiative seeks to promote sustainable, eco-friendly agriculture and strengthen India’s rural economy.
This week showcased significant advancements in India’s mobility and agriculture sectors. The commercial EV market gained momentum with new launches, dealership expansions, and supportive government incentives, while major players like Daimler, TVS, Terra Motors, Montra, and GEV are driving cleaner, smarter mobility solutions. In agriculture, rising wheat prices, strategic tractor investments, and the upcoming National Mission on Natural Farming are empowering farmers with better income, sustainability, and technological support. These developments highlight India’s ongoing transition toward greener transport, robust rural growth, and a stronger, more resilient economy.
