PM Modi announces “next-generation” GST reforms by Diwali.
Daimler India calls the reforms a boost for the commercial vehicle industry.
Lower GST rates are expected to cut operating costs and improve affordability.
Benefits for fleet operators, suppliers, and OEMs.
Reforms align with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and local manufacturing growth.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of introducing “next-generation” GST reforms by Diwali. The company believes these reforms will boost the commercial vehicle industry and improve affordability for customers.
DICV said that a simplified and restructured GST regime, particularly with reduced tax rates, would help lower operating costs across the value chain. This move is expected to benefit fleet operators, suppliers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). By reducing costs, the reforms could also make vehicles more affordable for customers, stimulating demand in the market.
Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV, noted that the proposed GST changes would support fleet operators, suppliers, and OEMs, while also accelerating economic activity. He added that the reforms could strengthen the company’s ability to invest in advanced and efficient technologies, generate more local jobs, and enhance India’s position as a global manufacturing hub.
Arya highlighted that DICV’s focus aligns with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, which aims to make India self-reliant through domestic manufacturing and reduced dependence on imports. The company continues to design, manufacture, and export trucks and buses from its Oragadam facility with a high level of local content.
DICV believes that reforms like these will support India’s long-term competitiveness by enabling locally manufactured products to meet both domestic and global demand. The company remains committed to contributing to India’s growth story with innovative, efficient, and locally developed vehicles.

The upcoming GST reforms, welcomed by Daimler India, are seen as a major step toward reducing costs, boosting demand, and strengthening India’s manufacturing base. With alignment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, these changes promise to support fleet operators, OEMs, and suppliers while creating jobs, driving innovation, and positioning India as a stronger global manufacturing hub.
