According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), India’s tractor industry reported healthy growth in October 2025, with total retail sales reaching 73,577 units, compared to 64,416 units in October 2024. This marks a strong year-on-year increase, supported by festive demand, good rainfall, and robust rural market sentiment.

Mahindra continued its leadership in India’s tractor market, selling 16,934 units in October 2025, up from 14,789 units in October 2024. Its market share rose slightly to 23.02% from 22.96% last year. Mahindra’s dominance reflects its wide product lineup and strong customer trust among farmers across the country.
The Swaraj Division of Mahindra secured second position with 13,367 units sold in October 2025, compared to 11,235 units last year. Its market share improved to 18.17% from 17.44%. Swaraj tractors remain a top choice for Indian farmers due to their durable design, ease of maintenance, and strong after-sales support.
TAFE achieved impressive performance with 9,615 units sold in October 2025, compared to 8,770 units in October 2024. However, its market share slightly declined to 13.07% from 13.61%. The consistent sales indicate strong customer interest in Massey Ferguson models under the TAFE brand.
Sonalika maintained a solid position with 8,878 tractors sold in October 2025, up from 7,985 units last year. Its market share stood at 12.07%, slightly lower than 12.40% in October 2024. Despite the small dip, Sonalika continues to expand its footprint with innovative and fuel-efficient tractors catering to both domestic and international markets.
Escorts Kubota witnessed strong growth with 7,898 tractors sold in October 2025, compared to 6,048 units last year. Its market share increased to 10.73% from 9.39%. The company’s Kubota-powered technology and modern design appeal are helping it gain traction in India’s evolving agricultural landscape.
John Deere reported retail sales of 6,128 units in October 2025, slightly higher than 5,838 units in October 2024. However, its market share decreased to 8.33% from 9.06%. The brand continues to perform well in the premium tractor segment with advanced technology and high-horsepower offerings.
Eicher registered 4,548 tractor sales in October 2025, compared to 3,697 units in the same month last year. Its market share increased to 6.18% from 5.74%, showcasing Eicher’s growing acceptance among small and mid-sized farmers seeking value-for-money models with good mileage and reliability.
CNH Industrial, known for its New Holland tractors, sold 3,004 units in October 2025, up from 2,598 units in October 2024. Its market share remained nearly stable at 4.08%, compared to 4.03% last year. The steady performance highlights CNH’s presence in modern farming regions, focusing on advanced mechanisation.
Other tractor manufacturers collectively sold 3,205 units in October 2025, slightly down from 3,456 units last year. Their combined market share stood at 4.36%, compared to 5.37% in October 2024, showing that major OEMs are increasingly strengthening their hold in the Indian tractor industry.

The retail sales data was compiled by FADA Research in partnership with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Government of India. The report is based on data collected from 1,400 out of 1,458 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across India. Figures from Telangana (TS) were not included. The “Others” category includes OEMs with less than 1% market share.

India’s tractor market showed strong recovery and momentum in October 2025, with all major brands reporting positive sales growth. The rise in rural income, improved crop output, and festive demand boosted tractor purchases across regions. Mahindra and Swaraj continue to lead the market, while Escorts Kubota, and CNH Industrial are expanding their footprint with modern and efficient machines.
The consistent rise in retail tractor sales reflects growing farmer confidence and the increasing role of mechanisation in driving India’s agricultural productivity.
