FADA’s retail tractor sales report for September 2025 highlights steady growth in the Indian tractor market with a total of 64,785 tractors sold, compared to 62,527 units in September 2024. Mahindra & Mahindra continued its dominance, while brands like TAFE, Escorts, Kubota, and CNH Industrial also showed positive momentum.

Tractor Brand-Wise Sales Performance Overview

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Tractor Division)

Mahindra retained its top position in the Indian tractor market, selling 15,515 tractors in September 2025. This represents a slight increase from 14,767 units sold in September 2024. Its market share rose to 23.95% from 23.62% last year, showcasing Mahindra’s consistent leadership in the sector. The brand continues to attract buyers with its wide product range and reliable performance in all types of farming conditions.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Swaraj Division)

Swaraj maintained its second position with 11,559 tractors sold in September 2025, compared to 11,018 units in the same month last year. Its market share increased slightly to 17.84% from 17.62%. The Swaraj brand remains a farmer favorite due to its strong build quality, ease of maintenance, and value-for-money offerings across segments.

TAFE Limited (Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd)

TAFE reported a strong performance with 7,943 units sold in September 2025, up from 7,287 units in September 2024. Its market share improved to 12.26% from 11.65%. The growth reflects rising demand for Massey Ferguson tractors under TAFE’s portfolio, particularly in southern and western India where mechanisation is rapidly expanding.

International Tractors Limited (Sonalika)

Sonalika sold 7,756 tractors in September 2025, compared to 8,114 units in September 2024. Its market share declined slightly to 11.97% from 12.98%. Despite a minor dip, the brand continues to hold a strong presence in both domestic and export markets, supported by its technologically advanced tractor lineup.

Escorts Kubota Limited (Agri Machinery Group)

Escorts Kubota recorded 6,692 tractor sales in September 2025, up from 6,314 units in the same month last year. Its market share increased to 10.33% from 10.10%. The brand’s consistent performance shows growing acceptance of its advanced tractor models and Kubota-powered technology in India’s agricultural landscape.

John Deere India Pvt Ltd (Tractor Division)

John Deere sold 4,814 tractors in September 2025, nearly the same as 4,815 units sold last year. However, its market share dropped slightly to 7.43% from 7.70%. Despite flat sales, John Deere continues to maintain a strong foothold in the premium tractor segment with its technologically advanced and high-HP models.

Eicher Tractors

Eicher reported 3,851 tractor sales in September 2025, slightly up from 3,806 units last year. However, its market share dipped to 5.94% from 6.09%. The brand remains popular among small and medium farmers due to its fuel-efficient engines and affordable pricing.

CNH Industrial (India) Pvt Ltd (New Holland)

CNH Industrial showed strong growth with 3,140 tractors sold in September 2025, a sharp rise from 2,520 units in September 2024. Its market share increased to 4.85% from 4.03%. This reflects increasing demand for New Holland tractors, especially in regions focused on modern farming and high-productivity models.

Other OEMs

Other tractor manufacturers, each accounting for less than 1% of total sales, collectively sold 3,515 units in September 2025, compared to 3,886 units last year. Their combined market share stood at 5.43%, showing a marginal decline as major OEMs continued to strengthen their hold in the market.

About the Report

The data has been compiled by FADA Research in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH). Figures are based on retail registrations collected from 1,392 out of 1,458 RTOs across India. Telangana data was not included in this report. The “Others” category includes OEMs with less than 1% market share.
