Montra Electric has partnered with MobiLane Network to expand charging access for its electric commercial vehicles across India. The collaboration will connect Montra Electric's commercial EV fleet with MobiLane's network of more than 120 DC fast-charging points across 40 cities and nine states.

The partnership aims to make charging more accessible and convenient for electric commercial vehicle drivers and fleet operators. By connecting the two networks, both companies are working to improve the charging experience and support the wider adoption of electric commercial vehicles.

OCPI Integration to Simplify EV Charging

The partnership uses the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) protocol to integrate Montra Electric's commercial vehicles with MobiLane's charging network. This technology enables drivers and fleet operators to access key charging services through a more connected system.

With OCPI integration, Montra Electric users can locate participating charging stations, check charger availability in real time, authorise charging sessions and manage payments across MobiLane's integrated charging locations.

These features can help fleet operators plan charging stops more efficiently and reduce the inconvenience of finding available chargers during vehicle operations. Access to a wider charging network is particularly important for commercial EVs, where charging downtime can affect vehicle utilisation and business productivity.

MobiLane Highlights the Importance of a Connected Charging Ecosystem

Commenting on the partnership, Devansh Shah, Founder of EVamp Technologies, the operating company of MobiLane, said, "Through OCPI, we are creating a more connected ecosystem where Montra Electric users can tap into the MobiLane network without technology becoming a barrier between the vehicle and the charger."

The integration reflects the growing importance of interoperability in India's electric vehicle ecosystem. Connecting vehicle fleets with multiple charging locations through a common interface can simplify charging access and make electric commercial vehicle operations more convenient.

What the Partnership Means for Electric Commercial Vehicles

The collaboration brings together Montra Electric's commercial vehicle fleet and MobiLane's charging infrastructure, offering users access to more than 120 DC fast-charging points across 40 cities in nine states.

For fleet operators, the ability to find chargers, check their availability and manage payments through an integrated system can support better route planning and day-to-day fleet management. As India's commercial EV market develops, partnerships that improve charging accessibility and connectivity could play an important role in encouraging businesses to consider electric vehicles.
