FADA Tractor Retail Market Share September 2026: Mahindra Group Leads as Sales Jump 13.7%

India’s tractor retail market recorded strong growth in September 2026, with total sales reaching 76,906 units, according to the latest data from FADA Research. This compares with 67,612 units retailed in September 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.75%.
The September data shows that the leading tractor manufacturers continued to strengthen their positions, with most major OEMs recording higher retail volumes than the same month last year. Mahindra Tractor Division continued to lead the market, followed by Swaraj Division and International Tractors Limited.
At the same time, the sharp decline in the contribution of smaller OEMs indicates that the market continued to consolidate around the major tractor manufacturers.
Overall Tractor Market Performance - September 2026
The Indian tractor retail market added 9,294 units in September 2026 compared with September 2025. Total retail sales increased from 67,612 units to 76,906 units.
Mahindra Tractor Division, Swaraj Division, ITL, TAFE, Escorts Kubota, John Deere, Eicher and CNH Industrial all recorded higher retail volumes compared with September 2025.
Among the major manufacturers, International Tractors Limited recorded the highest percentage increase in sales at around 27.1%, followed by John Deere at approximately 25.9% and Swaraj at around 20.9%.
However, the 'Others' category witnessed a significant decline in sales, falling from 5,924 units to 4,299 units.

Brand-Wise Tractor Sales Performance - September 2026
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Tractor Division)
Mahindra Tractor Division maintained its leadership in India's tractor retail market in September 2026. The company retailed 18,223 tractors, compared with 15,524 units in September 2025. This represents a growth of approximately 17.4% year-on-year. Its market share also improved to 23.70%, up from 22.96% in the same month last year. Mahindra therefore continued to remain India's largest tractor OEM based on September retail sales.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Swaraj Division)
Swaraj Division retained the second position with retail sales of 13,975 tractors in September 2026. The division had sold 11,564 units in September 2025. Its sales increased by approximately 20.9%, while market share improved from 17.10% to 18.17%. With the Mahindra Tractor Division and Swaraj combined, the Mahindra Group accounted for around 41.9% of India's tractor retail market during the month.
International Tractors Limited
International Tractors Limited emerged as one of the strongest performers among the leading tractor OEMs in September 2026. The company retailed 10,159 tractors, compared with 7,995 units in September 2025. This translates into a year-on-year growth of approximately 27.1%. ITL's market share increased substantially from 11.82% to 13.21%, helping it maintain the third position in the market.

TAFE Limited
TAFE Limited recorded retail sales of 8,605 tractors in September 2026, compared with 7,944 units during the same month last year. The company registered an increase of around 8.3% in sales. However, its market share declined from 11.75% to 11.19% due to the faster growth of some competing manufacturers. Despite this decline, TAFE remained the fourth-largest tractor OEM in September.
Escorts Kubota Limited
Escorts Kubota continued to strengthen its position in the Indian tractor market. The company retailed 7,772 tractors in September 2026, compared with 6,692 units in September 2025. This represents a year-on-year increase of approximately 16.1%. Its market share rose from 9.90% to 10.11%, taking the company past the 10% mark during the month.

John Deere India Pvt. Ltd.
John Deere India recorded a strong improvement in September 2026, with retail sales reaching 6,007 tractors compared with 4,771 units a year earlier. The company's sales increased by approximately 25.9% year-on-year. Its market share also increased from 7.06% to 7.81%. This performance helped John Deere strengthen its position among India's leading tractor manufacturers.
Eicher Tractors
Eicher Tractors retailed 4,410 units in September 2026, compared with 3,995 tractors in September 2025. Sales increased by around 10.4% during the period. However, its market share slipped slightly from 5.91% to 5.73%. Eicher continued to hold its position among the major tractor OEMs despite the marginal decline in market share.
CNH Industrial (India) Pvt. Ltd.
CNH Industrial recorded retail sales of 3,456 tractors in September 2026, compared with 3,203 units in September 2025. The company registered sales growth of approximately 7.9%. However, its market share declined from 4.74% to 4.49%.
Other Tractor Manufacturers
The combined 'Others' category recorded retail sales of 4,299 tractors in September 2026, significantly lower than the 5,924 units sold in September 2025. As a result, the market share of smaller OEMs declined sharply from 8.76% to 5.59%. The decline suggests that the major tractor manufacturers captured a larger portion of the market during September 2026.
Key Takeaway from September 2026 Tractor Market
The September 2026 FADA tractor retail data points to a strong improvement in India's tractor market, with overall retail sales growing by nearly 14% year-on-year. Mahindra Tractor Division continued to lead the market, while Swaraj retained the second position. Together, the two Mahindra Group divisions controlled nearly 42% of total tractor retail sales during the month.
International Tractors Limited recorded the strongest growth among the top three players, while John Deere and Escorts Kubota also improved their market positions. TAFE remained a major player despite a slight decline in market share. The sharp fall in the 'Others' category was another important development, indicating that established tractor manufacturers continued to gain a larger share of India's retail market.
