Chinese agricultural machinery manufacturer Zoomlion has unveiled its new 9DX hybrid tractor, claiming the title of the world's most powerful tractor. The machine produces an impressive 1,600 horsepower (HP), making it significantly more powerful than the previous record holder, the John Deere 9RX 830, which delivers 913 HP.

The new Zoomlion 9DX was showcased at the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition (CIAME). Designed for large-scale farming and demanding agricultural operations, the tractor combines a high-power hybrid system, advanced transmission technology and a specialised four-track drive system.

Zoomlion 9DX Hybrid Tractor: Engine and Powertrain

The Zoomlion 9DX features an 800V dual-motor coupling system integrated with a hybrid continuously variable transmission (CVT). This advanced hybrid architecture is designed to deliver high power and torque while supporting heavy-duty agricultural applications.

The tractor produces a peak power output of 1,600 HP and maximum torque of 7,200 Nm. It can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h and operate on slopes exceeding 12 degrees, making it suitable for challenging farming conditions. However, Zoomlion has not yet revealed the exact specifications of the internal combustion engine that works alongside its electric motors.

Advanced Hydraulic System and Four-Track Design

One of the major highlights of the Zoomlion 9DX is its high-capacity hydraulic system, which delivers an impressive flow rate of 636 litres per minute (L/min). This system is designed to operate large agricultural implements, including wide seeders and heavy-duty tillage equipment.

The tractor also features an independently developed four-track drive system fitted with 762 mm (30-inch) wide rubber tracks. This design helps distribute the machine's weight over a larger ground area, reducing soil compaction while improving traction during demanding field operations.

Zoomlion 9DX vs John Deere 9RX 830: Power Comparison

With 1,600 HP, the Zoomlion 9DX moves well ahead of the John Deere 9RX 830, previously recognised as the world's most powerful tractor with 913 HP. The new Zoomlion model offers a substantial increase in power, highlighting the growing capabilities of hybrid technology in high-horsepower agricultural machinery.

Despite revealing several impressive performance figures, Zoomlion has not shared the tractor's complete technical specifications. Its overall weight, an important factor in understanding traction, ground pressure and how effectively the machine transfers power to the soil, also remains undisclosed. Industry tracking source Future Farming noted the limited preliminary technical information released by the manufacturer and stated that an update would be provided when more details become available.
