India's tractor retail market continued its growth momentum in May 2026. According to FADA Research, total tractor retail sales stood at 83,092 units during the month, compared to 74,744 units in May 2025. The industry registered healthy year-on-year growth, supported by continued farm mechanisation, favourable agricultural activities, and steady demand from rural markets.
The latest retail market share data shows that the Mahindra Group maintained its dominant position through both Mahindra Tractor and Swaraj brands. Other leading manufacturers including International Tractors, TAFE, Escorts Kubota, John Deere, Eicher, and CNH Industrial also recorded growth in retail volumes.
The Indian tractor industry witnessed strong retail demand during May 2026, resulting in total sales of 83,092 units. Compared to 74,744 units sold during May 2025, the market added over 8,300 units year-on-year.
Most major tractor manufacturers reported higher retail volumes compared to the previous year. The market also witnessed increased concentration among leading OEMs, while the contribution from smaller manufacturers continued to decline.

Mahindra Tractor Division continued to lead the Indian tractor market in May 2026 with retail sales of 19,077 units. The company increased its market share to 22.96%, up from 22.10% in May 2025. Strong demand across key agricultural regions helped Mahindra maintain its leadership position.
Swaraj Division secured the second position with sales of 15,205 units. The company held an 18.30% market share, slightly higher than the 18.26% recorded a year earlier. The brand continued to benefit from its strong presence in rural and farming communities.
International Tractors Limited registered retail sales of 11,120 units in May 2026. Its market share improved to 13.38% compared to 13.20% in May 2025. The company maintained steady growth and strengthened its position among the leading tractor manufacturers.
TAFE emerged as one of the biggest gainers during the month. The company sold 10,659 tractors and increased its market share to 12.83%, up significantly from 10.04% last year. The strong improvement highlights growing customer acceptance and wider market reach.
Escorts Kubota reported retail sales of 9,539 units and secured an 11.48% market share. The company improved both its sales volume and market share compared to May 2025, reflecting healthy demand across multiple tractor segments.
John Deere sold 6,039 units during May 2026. While retail volumes increased compared to the previous year, its market share declined slightly to 7.27% from 7.89%, indicating faster growth by some competing brands.
Eicher Tractors recorded sales of 4,922 units and maintained a stable market position with a 5.92% share. The brand continued to attract buyers looking for practical and value-oriented tractor solutions.
CNH Industrial posted sales of 3,857 units during the month. Its market share improved to 4.64% from 4.15% in May 2025, showcasing positive growth and stronger market penetration.
The combined contribution of smaller tractor manufacturers stood at 2,674 units, accounting for 3.22% of the market. This was significantly lower than the 7.47% share recorded in May 2025, indicating increasing consolidation among larger OEMs.
The May 2026 tractor retail data highlights continued strength in India's agricultural machinery sector. Total industry sales crossed the 83,000-unit mark, reflecting healthy rural demand and ongoing mechanisation across farming regions. Mahindra Group maintained its overall dominance through both Mahindra and Swaraj brands, while TAFE, Escorts Kubota, International Tractors, and CNH Industrial strengthened their market positions. The declining share of smaller OEMs suggests that leading manufacturers continue to capture a larger portion of the market.
