Action Construction Equipment Limited (ACE) and Kato Works Co., Ltd. have announced a major joint venture to manufacture high-capacity cranes in India. The announcement was made in New Delhi on March 24, 2026.
The new entity, ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd., will operate as an equal 50:50 partnership, with a planned investment of around ₹200 crore. This move marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s position in advanced construction equipment manufacturing.
The joint venture will set up a new manufacturing facility in Haryana, with operations expected to start in 2026.
The plant will focus on producing a wide range of high-capacity cranes, including:
Crawler cranes
Rough terrain cranes
These machines are essential for large-scale infrastructure projects, construction activities, and industrial operations. The production will cater to both domestic demand and export markets.
According to Sorab Agarwal, the partnership aims to introduce globally benchmarked crane technology in India while boosting domestic manufacturing strength.
He highlighted that India is currently witnessing rapid growth in infrastructure and industrial sectors, which is increasing the demand for advanced construction equipment. The collaboration is expected to expand ACE’s presence in the high-capacity crane segment and position India as a strategic hub for manufacturing advanced lifting solutions.
The joint venture will combine the strengths of both companies to deliver better products and a wider market reach.
Kato Works will contribute its engineering expertise and proprietary technologies to develop advanced crane solutions.
ACE will bring its strong manufacturing base and operational capabilities to the table.
ACE also has a wide distribution network across more than 125 locations, supported by 13 regional offices. This network is expected to help the new venture reach customers efficiently and explore new market segments that were previously untapped.
The partnership has a clear focus on expanding exports beyond India. The joint venture plans to target key regions such as:

Africa
ACE already exports to over 42 countries, and this collaboration is expected to further strengthen its global footprint with a more advanced and diverse product portfolio.
This development aligns with the Make in India initiative, which promotes domestic manufacturing across sectors like industrial machinery, defence, electronics, and construction equipment.
India’s construction equipment industry has seen strong growth due to rising government investments in roads, ports, railways, and urban infrastructure. Programmes like the National Infrastructure Pipeline have further accelerated this demand.
