73 BHP Diesel Engine With Updated Emission Control
The JCB 3DX Super Refresh 4X4 uses the company's Stage 5-430 diesel engine, which produces 73 bhp and 440 Nm of maximum torque at 1,150 rpm. The 3.0-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine uses common-rail direct injection to deliver fuel to the engine.
Its Stage 5 emissions-control system includes exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF). These components help control exhaust emissions.
The engine is paired with a two-speed driveline, which supports traction during loading, dozing and other earthmoving operations.
Standard 4WD and 6-in-1 Bucket for Multiple Applications
One of the key features of the new backhoe loader is its standard four-wheel-drive system. The 4WD setup helps improve traction when working on challenging surfaces and moving materials.
The machine also comes with a standard 6-in-1 multipurpose bucket. It allows operators to perform loading, dozing and material-handling tasks without changing attachments for each operation.
At the rear, the backhoe bucket has a capacity of 0.30 cubic metres and offers a maximum digging depth of 5.05 metres. At the front, the loader bucket has a capacity of 1 cubic metre and a maximum dump height of 2.93 metres.
These capabilities make the machine suitable for excavation, loading, material movement and general construction work.
Digital Console and Revised Gear Controls
The JCB 3DX Super Refresh 4X4 features updated controls designed to make machine operation more convenient.
Its digital console displays important operating information, allowing operators to monitor the machine during work. A rotating lever mounted on the steering column is used to select gears.
The machine also features a semi-automatic kick-down function that helps operators change gears during loading cycles. These updates are intended to simplify gear selection and improve the way operators manage routine operations.
Auto Idle and Auto Stop Functions Help Reduce Fuel Consumption
JCB claims that the new 3DX Super Refresh 4X4 can deliver up to 10% lower fuel consumption than the previous model. According to the company, the improvement comes from the engine, hydraulic system and automatic operating controls.
The machine uses a variable-displacement hydraulic pump that adjusts oil flow according to operating requirements. This helps reduce hydraulic losses when the machine does not require the maximum oil flow.
Its automatic functions further support fuel-saving efforts. Auto Idle reduces engine speed after 10 seconds of inactivity, while Auto Stop switches off the engine after six minutes without activity. The machine also offers multiple work modes for different operating conditions.
Dealer Reports 16% Fuel Consumption Reduction
During the Imphal launch, a local dealer representative reported a 16% reduction in fuel consumption compared with earlier models. This is higher than JCB's official claim of up to 10% savings against the previous model.
However, the two figures cannot be directly compared without details of the reference machines and testing conditions. The available information does not establish whether both claims were measured under the same conditions.
Actual fuel consumption can vary depending on the type of work, soil conditions, idling time, operator behaviour and maintenance practices.
Longer Maintenance Intervals and Offline Diagnostics
The new backhoe loader comes with revised maintenance intervals intended to reduce routine servicing requirements.
JCB specifies a primary fuel-filter replacement interval of up to 1,000 hours, compared with 500 hours previously, when maintenance follows the prescribed schedule. The hydraulic oil-change interval is 4,000 hours when the relevant filtration system is used.
The machine also features offline diagnostics for reading fault codes. This function helps technicians identify reported faults and troubleshoot problems without relying on an online diagnostic connection.
In addition, the backhoe loader uses open-loop crankcase ventilation. According to the available information, this system removes the need to replace the associated filter.
Optional Smooth Ride System and Operator Safety
JCB offers its Smooth Ride System as an optional feature on the 3DX Super Refresh 4X4. The system is designed to improve stability and operator comfort when travelling over rough ground. Buyers should check with their local dealership to confirm availability for their chosen configuration.
For safety, the machine features rollover protection and falling-object protection structures (ROPS and FOPS). These structures provide protection against the specified rollover and falling-object hazards.
JCB also states that the updated machine has lower cab noise levels, which is intended to improve operator comfort during long working shifts.
JCB 3DX Super Refresh 4X4 Price in India
JCB has not yet disclosed the price of the 3DX Super Refresh 4X4. Interested buyers can contact authorised JCB dealerships for the latest pricing, available configurations and delivery schedules.
Since the Smooth Ride System is optional, buyers should also confirm whether it is included in the selected configuration before making a purchase.
