India’s tractor market witnessed a strong performance in September 2025, with total domestic sales reaching 1,46,180 units, up 45.39% from 1,00,542 units sold in September 2024. This robust growth was driven by rising agricultural activity, strong rural demand, and improved financing support across key farming states.

Mahindra & Mahindra maintained its dominance in the domestic market with 64,946 tractors sold, up from 43,201 units in September 2024. The company achieved 50.33% growth, and its market share rose from 42.97% to 44.43%, a gain of 1.46 percentage points. Strong rural demand, a wide product range, and effective dealer networks helped sustain its leadership.

TAFE Group, including Massey Ferguson and Eicher brands, recorded 27,530 units, up 53.08% from 17,984 units last year. Its market share increased from 17.89% to 18.83%, gaining 0.95 percentage points. The growth came from expanding sales in key agricultural regions and rising demand for mid-horsepower tractors.
Sonalika reported 17,971 units, up 25.59% year-on-year from 14,309 units in September 2024. However, its market share dropped from 14.23% to 12.29%, showing slower growth than the industry average. The decline highlights tough competition in the 40–60 HP segment.
Escorts Kubota achieved 17,803 units, up 48.54% compared to 11,985 units last year. Its market share rose from 11.92% to 12.18%, a 0.26 percentage point increase. The company performed well in both utility and premium tractor segments, supported by its strong brand positioning and product variety.
John Deere registered 9,240 units, growing 31.92% from 7,004 units in September 2024. Despite volume growth, its market share fell from 6.97% to 6.32%, down by 0.65 points. The decline suggests rising competition and slower rollout of new models in some regions.
New Holland recorded 6,825 units, marking 51.57% YoY growth from 4,503 units last year. The company’s market share improved from 4.48% to 4.67%, up 0.19 percentage points. Its strong performance came from consistent demand in the 40–55 HP tractor segment.
VST sold 357 units, registering 33.21% growth from 268 units last year. However, its market share slightly declined from 0.27% to 0.24%, reflecting intense competition from larger OEMs in the compact tractor segment.

Indo Farm sold 402 units, up 17.89% from 341 units in September 2024. However, its market share slipped from 0.34% to 0.28%, a 0.06% decline. The company saw stable performance but trailed behind the overall industry growth rate.
SDF recorded 86 units, growing 56.36% compared to 55 units last year. Its market share remained stable at 0.06%, reflecting steady demand for its premium European tractor models in select markets.
Captain Tractors delivered a strong performance with 240 units sold, up 73.91% year-on-year from 138 units. Its market share increased from 0.14% to 0.16%, showing better acceptance in small tractor categories.
Preet Tractors sold 475 units, up 8.94% from 436 units in September 2024. However, its market share fell from 0.43% to 0.32%, a decline of 0.11 percentage points, as its growth remained below the overall market average.
ACE was the only brand to report a decline in sales, with 305 units compared to 318 units last year, marking a 4.09% fall. Its market share also dropped from 0.32% to 0.21%, showing weakness in demand despite the broader market uptrend.

India’s tractor industry recorded strong double-digit growth in September 2025, backed by good monsoon rains, healthy kharif output, and pre-festive buying sentiment. Major players like Mahindra and TAFE strengthened their lead, while Sonalika and John Deere saw slight share losses despite higher sales.
With rabi season preparations and festive demand approaching, the domestic tractor market is likely to maintain this positive momentum in the coming months.
