India’s tractor sales rose 28.25% in August 2025 with 64,297 units sold, supported by kharif sowing, improved rural demand, and festive season preparations.

India’s tractor market continued its strong momentum in August 2025 with total domestic sales of 64,297 units, registering a 28.25% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to 50,134 units sold in August 2024. This rise was driven by healthy monsoon rains, strong kharif crop sowing, and higher rural demand ahead of the festive season.

Brand-Wise Sales Analysis

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M)

Mahindra retained its leadership by selling 26,201 tractors, up from 20,518 units in August 2024. Sales grew by 27.70%, but market share slipped slightly by 0.18%, from 40.93% to 40.75%.

TAFE Group

TAFE, including Massey Ferguson and Eicher, recorded 10,977 units, up 33.10% over last year. Its market share improved from 16.45% to 17.07%, gaining 0.62%, the highest share gain among top brands.

Sonalika

Sonalika sold 8,323 tractors, up 28.18% from last year. Market share remained almost flat, moving from 12.95% to 12.94%.

Escorts Kubota

Escorts Kubota achieved 7,902 units, marking 26.57% growth. However, its market share slipped from 12.45% to 12.29%, losing 0.16%.

John Deere

John Deere sold 5,916 units, rising 24.03% from August 2024. Despite this, its share fell from 9.51% to 9.20%, a 0.31% drop, the steepest among the top five players.

New Holland

New Holland posted 3,330 units, up 43.47%, one of the strongest growth rates. Its market share rose from 4.63% to 5.18%, gaining 0.55%.

VST Tillers Tractors

VST sold 342 units, up 8.57% year-on-year. However, its market share declined from 0.63% to 0.53%, losing 0.10%.

Preet Tractors

Preet recorded 339 units, a fall of 2.87% compared to last year. Market share dropped from 0.70% to 0.53%, a decline of 0.17%.

Indo Farm

Indo Farm sold 338 units, growing 4.97%, but its share slipped from 0.64% to 0.53%, down by 0.12%.

ACE Tractors

ACE achieved 274 units, up 26.85% year-on-year. Its market share remained stable at 0.43%.

Captain Tractors

Captain had a weak month with 258 units, down 14.29%. Its market share declined from 0.60% to 0.40%, a fall of 0.20%.

SDF (Same Deutz-Fahr)

SDFemerged as the fastest-growing brand, selling 97 units, up 148.72% compared to August 2024. Its market share doubled from 0.08% to 0.15%, a gain of 0.07%.

India’s tractor industry posted strong double-digit growth in August 2025, supported by good rainfall, kharif sowing, and festive season demand. While TAFE and New Holland gained significant market share, leaders like Mahindra and John Deere saw minor declines. Smaller brands like SDF grew rapidly, though volumes remain limited.
