Montra Electric Concludes Inaugural Super League Event

Montra Electric, the EV brand of the 124-year-old Murugappa Group, completed the inaugural Montra Electric Super League (MSL) in its Chennai factory. The event, which was co-sponsored by Chola Finance, concluded with cricketer Jonty Rhodes presenting the awards.

Teams and Winners

The Montra Electric Super league has 10 teams, each with 17 auto drivers, competing to cover the most kilometers. Team MSL Knights, featuring drivers from UP, Bihar, Punjab, and Assam, claimed victory, while Team Hawks, with participants from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, secured second place.

Notable Achievements

Individual awards were also given. Devnarayan from Noida and Islam Mohammed from Lucknow were named Super Riders, while Bhavani from Chennai won the Super Shero Award. Participants who covered over 50,000 kilometers in less than a year received the Super 50K Award. Winners were rewarded with trophies, medals, and cash prizes.
Purpose of the Event

The Montra Electric Super league aimed to address concerns about electric vehicles (electric three wheelers), such as range anxiety, by encouraging participants to cover long distances using top-up charging. Points were awarded for every kilometer driven, as well as for referrals, live bookings, and customer testimonials.

Support from Montra Electric and Chola Finance

Anurag Vohra, Chief Operating Officer of Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility), highlighted the company’s commitment to promoting electric mobility and helping auto drivers. 

Roy Kurian, Business Head of Montra Electric’s Last Mile Mobility Vertical, praised the inclusivity of the event, particularly the involvement of women drivers. Chola Finance also announced that it would provide free education to the children of the league’s finalists and semi-finalists.
