Eastman Auto Partners with Urja Mobility to Boost Electric Mobility in India

Key Highlights:

  • Eastman Auto and Urja Mobility have partnered to improve electric mobility in India.
  • They plan to deploy over 20,000 lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
  • The partnership will use Urja Mobility’s battery leasing and IoT systems to make EVs more efficient.
  • It focuses on the electric three-wheeler market, where Eastman is a leader.
  • The collaboration aims to reduce costs for drivers and help India meet its sustainability goals.

Eastman Auto and Power Ltd (EAPL) has teamed up with MTOW Mobility Private Limited (Urja Mobility). The aim of this new partnership is to boost electric mobility in India. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deploy over 20,000 lithium-ion batteries, bringing new innovations to battery technology.

The collaboration will combine Eastman’s expertise in advanced lithium-ion batteries with Urja Mobility’s unique battery leasing solutions. By integrating Urja Mobility’s IoT and software systems, the partnership will enable features like remote monitoring and analytics, making electric vehicles more efficient and user-friendly.

The main focus of this partnership will remain on electric three-wheelers segment, a main part of India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. Eastman is already a leader in supplying batteries for e-rickshaws. The collaboration is also a step towards meeting India’s sustainability goals.

It encourages more widespread adoption of electric vehicles in India while reducing carbon emissions. Through Urja Mobility’s leasing model, the upfront costs for drivers and fleet operators will become lower, which will make EVs more affordable and accessible.

Shekhar Singal, Managing Director of Eastman Auto and Power Ltd, shared, “Our advanced lithium-ion battery technology, combined with Urja Mobility’s leasing solutions, will help make sustainable transportation more accessible across the country.”

Pankaj Chopra, Co-Founder and Director of Urja Mobility, added, “This partnership is a big step in our mission to revolutionize transportation in India by offering cost-effective and reliable battery solutions.”

With this collaboration, Eastman aims to further strengthen its position in the electric three-wheeler market while contributing to the future of sustainable mobility in India.

This partnership between Eastman Auto and Urja Mobility can be seen as a smart move. The battery leasing option will make it cheaper for drivers to use electric vehicles, which will be helpful for people who can't afford high upfront costs. The new technology will also make EVs more efficient and easier to take care of.
