Delhi-Gurgaon Travel Cost Rises as NHAI Increases Toll from April 1

Travel on major highways around Delhi NCR has become more expensive from April 1. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll charges on key routes, including the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, and Sohna Highway. This change is expected to impact thousands of daily commuters and transporters who use these busy roads regularly.

Why Toll Rates Have Increased

The toll hike is part of an annual revision system linked to the Wholesale Price Index (WPI). In simple terms, toll charges are updated every year based on inflation. As prices rise, toll rates are adjusted accordingly. This yearly revision has now come into effect across several highways in India, including the high-traffic routes in Delhi NCR.

New Toll Rates at Major Plazas

Kherki Daula Toll Plaza (Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway)

At Kherki Daula toll plaza, car users now have to pay ₹100 for a one-way trip, compared to ₹80 earlier. The return journey now costs ₹150. For frequent users, a monthly pass for 50 trips is priced at ₹3,320. However, local residents can still get a monthly pass for ₹350.

Bijwasan Toll Plaza (Dwarka Expressway)

At Bijwasan toll plaza, the toll for cars has increased to ₹225 for a single trip and ₹340 for a return journey. The monthly pass for 50 trips now costs ₹7,550. Local users living within 20 km can continue to avail a ₹350 monthly pass. Additionally, commercial vehicles from within the same district will now pay ₹50 per trip.

Ghamdoj Toll Plaza (Sohna Highway)

At Ghamdoj toll plaza, car users now pay ₹130 for a one-way trip and ₹195 for a return journey. For larger vehicles, buses and trucks are charged ₹440 per crossing, heavy machinery ₹690, and oversized vehicles ₹845.

This toll hike will directly affect people who travel daily between Delhi and Gurgaon. Regular commuters will now have to spend more on their daily journeys. At the same time, transport businesses may also face higher operating costs, which could lead to increased prices for goods and services.
