Additionally, key rule changes from June 1 and a digital overhaul of India's ration distribution via Family ID grabbed nationwide attention.
Let’s dive into all the crucial stories that are driving India’s journey toward a smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility and agricultural future.
Olectra Shares Tank After Maharashtra Minister Pushes to Cancel 5,150 Electric Bus Deal

Olectra Greentech shares fell nearly 14% after Maharashtra’s Transport Minister highlighted delays in a 5,150 electric bus order. The ₹10,000 crore contract was managed by a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), where Olectra holds only a 1% stake. Investors feared cancellation, which would cut Olectra’s pending orders from 10,022 to 4,872 buses. Olectra clarified no formal cancellation notice was received and that the project is still ongoing, but concerns remain over execution and the company’s role in large-scale contracts.
Cityflo Rolls Out AI-Powered Driver Safety System in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi

Cityflo has launched an AI-powered driver safety system using ADAS and DMS technologies in its buses and LUXE cabs across Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. These tools provide real-time alerts and monitor driver behavior to prevent accidents and improve safety. Developed with startup Cautio, the system is already installed in most vehicles. With 400+ buses and 600 drivers covering 10 million km annually, Cityflo aims to tackle India’s road safety issues and improve reliability in the unorganised bus transport sector.
Tata Motors Invests in AI and Alternative Fuels to Power Next-Gen Commercial Vehicles

Tata Motors is advancing toward Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) by investing in AI, smart tools, and Industry 4.0. The company is testing AI for predictive maintenance, real-time fleet updates, and sales personalisation. It also launched India’s first hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine (H2ICE) truck and continues investing in EVs, CNG, LNG, and hydrogen. With over 3,600 electric buses covering 30 crore km at 95% uptime, Tata Motors is aligning its commercial vehicle operations with sustainability and digital innovation goals.

Tata Motors has entered the Egyptian market through a partnership with MTI, launching a wide range of commercial vehicles including the Xenon, Ultra, Prima trucks, and LP 613 bus. These models cater to cargo, passenger, and logistics needs. Tata offers up to 5-year warranties, service packages, and support via 7 MTI service centers. This move reflects Tata’s commitment to Egypt’s growing transport sector, aiming to boost efficiency, uptime, and customer value with proven global expertise and reliable after-sales support.
VECV Partners with Statiq to Boost Electric Vehicle Adoption in India

VECV has partnered with Statiq to offer integrated EV charging solutions for Eicher electric trucks and buses. With access to 8,000+ charging points and smart integration into the MyEicher app, users benefit from real-time station visibility, intelligent navigation, and special tariffs. The alliance includes joint support systems and plans for infrastructure growth, including mobile charging and shared revenue models. This move strengthens India’s commercial EV ecosystem and supports a faster, cleaner shift to electric mobility across the country.
Jupiter Electric Mobility to Deploy 300 JEM TEZ EVs with Pickkup by Year-End

Jupiter Electric Mobility will deploy 300 JEM TEZ electric LCVs with Pickkup by end-2025, supporting India's PM e-DRIVE scheme. These EVs offer a range of 190–220 km and can carry up to 1,050 kg, making them ideal for intercity logistics. Pickkup operates EV fleets in NCR and tier-2 cities. Jupiter’s Indore plant can produce up to 10,000 units annually. The partnership reflects growing EV adoption in commercial logistics, aimed at reducing emissions and boosting cost efficiency in last- and mid-mile deliveries.
Astro Motors Enters L5 EV Segment with Navya and Nova

Astro Motors enters the electric three-wheeler market with two new L5 models—Astro Navya for cargo and Astro Nova for passengers. Navya is India’s first geared electric cargo three-wheeler, offering better torque, battery life, and hill performance. Nova, branded “Auto ka SUV,” focuses on premium comfort. While Navya is ready for delivery, Nova will launch in July. Astro also plans to enter the L3 segment by October and expand dealerships nationwide. The company aims to tap both Indian and global markets.

The Indian government is making Family ID mandatory for ration distribution in several states to prevent fraud and ensure benefits reach the right people. This digital ID stores complete family details and is already active in states like Uttar Pradesh. It improves transparency, speeds up scheme delivery, and helps stop fake beneficiaries. You can apply online at familyid.up.gov.in or offline at a CSC. Required documents include Aadhaar, address proof, and bank details. Apply soon to continue receiving ration benefits without interruption.
Over 95% of Gaza's Agricultural Land Now Unusable: FAO Warns of Looming Famine

Gaza’s agriculture has collapsed, with 95% of farmland now unusable and only 4.6% remaining cultivable. Over 70% of greenhouses and 82% of wells are destroyed, crippling food production. This devastation threatens all 2.1 million residents with famine. Agriculture once supported 10% of Gaza’s GDP, but damages now exceed $2 billion. Without urgent global aid and recovery, nearly 500,000 people could face starvation by September 2025, making this one of the most severe humanitarian emergencies worldwide.
VST Tillers & Tractors to Launch Electric Power Tiller and Weeder in FY’26

VST Tillers & Tractors will launch its first electric power tiller and weeder in FY’26, fully developed in-house with support from its global partnership with Monarch Tractor. These machines will offer fast charging (70–80% in 30–40 minutes) and optional swappable batteries. Aimed at Indian and global markets, they promise efficient and sustainable farming. With strong sales growth already, VST is taking a major step toward cleaner agriculture and smarter, eco-friendly solutions for farmers.
5 Big Rule Changes from June 1, 2025: Know What Will Impact Your Pocket

From June 1, 2025, key financial rule changes will impact daily life. LPG cylinder prices may fluctuate, affecting kitchen budgets. A 2% penalty applies on failed credit card auto-debits, and ATM withdrawals beyond the free limit may incur extra charges. Fixed deposit rates could drop in some banks, affecting savers. Meanwhile, EPFO 3.0 promises faster, digital PF services for salaried employees. These updates highlight the need for careful financial planning and staying informed to avoid unexpected costs and maximize benefits.
India Becomes World’s Top Rice Producer, Surpassing China for the First Time

India has become the world’s top rice producer in 2024–25, overtaking China for the first time. Rice output reached 1490.74 lakh tonnes, driven by good monsoon, government support, and new high-yield varieties. Other crops like wheat, maize, and oilseeds also saw record production. With continued growth, India is set to maintain its lead in rice production and export. This achievement highlights Indian farmers' hard work and signals a strong future for the country’s agricultural and food security landscape.
This week’s developments capture the dynamic pace of India’s commercial and agricultural transformation. From Tata Motors’ global expansion and AI-driven innovations to Cityflo’s smart safety upgrades and VECV’s EV ecosystem strengthening, the commercial vehicle sector is steering toward a smarter, greener future. Meanwhile, the rise of electric three-wheelers and light commercial EVs shows a clear push for clean last-mile logistics. On the agri front, VST’s upcoming electric tillers and India’s new global status as the top rice producer reflect growing technological adoption and resilience in farming. While Olectra’s electric bus deal faces challenges, the overall momentum remains forward-focused. As policy changes and digital systems reshape public welfare and infrastructure, CMV360 will continue bringing you the latest insights from India’s evolving mobility and agricultural landscapes.
