As part of the initiative, BharatBenz will offer an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible trucks and buses purchased under the scheme. The move is aimed at encouraging fleet owners to replace older commercial vehicles with cleaner and more efficient alternatives.

Government's Push for Cleaner Commercial Vehicles

The vehicle replacement scheme has been approved by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is funded through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

The program is being jointly implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). Its primary objective is to accelerate fleet modernization, reduce vehicular emissions, and promote the adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles across the Delhi-NCR region.

Over 2 Lakh Commercial Vehicles Expected to Benefit

The scheme is expected to cover approximately 2.07 lakh commercial vehicles registered in Delhi-NCR. This includes around 1.91 lakh trucks and more than 16,329 buses.

Owners of BS-IV and older commercial vehicles will be eligible to replace their vehicles with BS-VI compliant trucks and buses, cleaner fuel variants, or electric vehicles, subject to the scheme's guidelines.

Additional Benefits for Vehicle Owners

Apart from the discount offered by BharatBenz, eligible beneficiaries can also avail several incentives announced by the Central and State Governments. These benefits include:

  • Interest subvention on vehicle loans

  • Fuel vouchers

  • Registration fee waivers

  • Motor vehicle tax concessions

These incentives are designed to reduce the cost of upgrading to modern and environmentally friendly commercial vehicles.

BharatBenz Supports Fleet Modernization

Commenting on the development, Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and Chief Business Officer of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said that the government's vehicle replacement scheme is an important step toward fleet modernization and emission reduction in the Delhi-NCR region.

He added that BharatBenz is committed to supporting customers in upgrading their fleets through its range of BS-VI commercial vehicles, helping improve productivity, fuel efficiency, operational performance, and overall transportation efficiency.

DICV Joins Other Major Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers

With the signing of this agreement, DICV joins several leading commercial vehicle manufacturers that have already partnered with the government for the fleet replacement program. Earlier this month, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, and SML Mahindra also signed similar MoUs under the initiative.
