Bajaj Auto to Launch New Electric Rickshaw Under 'GoGo' Brand by July 2025

Key Highlights:

  • Bajaj Auto will launch a new electric rickshaw under its ‘GoGo’ brand by early July 2025.
  • The company’s electric auto market share grew from 17% in FY24 to 33% in FY25.
  • The upcoming lithium-ion battery e-rickshaw will offer better range, lower maintenance, and higher build quality than most existing models.
  • Bajaj aims to tap into a 40,000-unit segment with the new e-rickshaw and plans to expand based on user feedback and market trends.
  • Despite fuel transition challenges, Bajaj remains confident about long-term growth in the electric three-wheeler market.

Bajaj Auto Ltd. is planning to launch a new electric rickshaw (electric three-wheeler) under its electric brand ‘GoGo’ by early July 2025. This move shows the company’s aim to become a top player in India’s electric three-wheeler market. According to Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, the company has seen strong growth in the electric auto sector. Its market share increased from 17% in FY24 to 33% in FY25. Bajaj is now the number one electric auto company in India, based on April and May 2025 sales.

Focus on Better Quality

Sharma said the new e-rickshaw will offer better engineering, quality, and reliability compared to current models in the market. Many existing electric rickshaws are of low quality, and Bajaj aims to improve the experience for both drivers and passengers.

Features of the New E-Rickshaw

The upcoming model will run on a lithium-ion battery. It is expected to give a better range and require less maintenance. Bajaj Auto had earlier launched the 'GoGo' brand in February 2025 with three electric passenger variants.

Plans for the Future

The company hopes the new e-rickshaw will help them tap into a segment of around 40,000 units. In FY26, Bajaj plans to focus on learning from the market and customer feedback. They aim to improve and expand the product range over time.

Positive Outlook for Three-Wheeler Business

Despite challenges like fuel transition and changing regulations, Sharma remains confident about the growth of the three-wheeler segment. Bajaj's commercial vehicle business has already reached its highest-ever revenue, helped by strong sales of both petrol/CNG and electric vehicles.

CMV360 Says

Bajaj Auto’s plan to enter the electric rickshaw segment with a well-engineered product under the ‘GoGo’ brand is a step toward reshaping last-mile mobility in India. The company already holds a strong position in the market, and with this new launch, it aims to raise the quality benchmark in a segment that has long suffered from low-cost and unreliable options. If the new e-rickshaw delivers on performance, reliability, and driver comfort, it could not only boost Bajaj's market share further but also improve the everyday experience of lakhs of drivers and passengers.
