Bajaj Riki to expand from 8 to 200 cities by Q1 2026.
The pilot phase is currently active in Patna, Moradabad, Guwahati, and Raipur.
Focus on customer feedback before nationwide scale-up.
Target states include UP, Bihar, MP, Chhattisgarh, and Assam.
Riki offers 140 km range, fast charging, and a 3-year battery warranty.
Bajaj Auto is set to make a major push in India’s electric three-wheeler market. The company plans to expand the presence of its new e-rickshaw, Bajaj Riki, to 200 cities between January and March 2026, marking a big step toward strengthening clean and safe last-mile mobility.
Bajaj Auto launched Riki earlier this year and began its pilot testing with four cities. This pilot has now expanded to eight cities, including:
Patna
Moradabad
Guwahati
Raipur
Executive Director Rakesh Sharma said the company is currently in phase one, focusing on understanding customer feedback, communication strategies, and promotional needs.
He added, “We are right now in phase one, where for another month or so we will be observing customer feedback and deciding our communication and promotion strategy.”
After the pilot study, Bajaj Auto will begin a massive scale-up. During the January–February–March period, the company aims to expand from the current eight cities to 200 cities and towns across India.
Sharma explained that once traction in these regions becomes clear, the company will then evaluate sales volumes and future targets.
For the next three to four months, Bajaj Auto is focused on seeding the product in various regions before increasing its presence in a phased manner.
Under phase I expansion, Bajaj Auto will focus on multiple cities and towns across:
Uttar Pradesh
Bihar
Madhya Pradesh
Chhattisgarh
Assam
These regions have a rapidly growing demand for electric last-mile transport and remain strong hubs for e-rickshaw usage.
Bajaj Riki is priced at ₹1.9 lakh and is designed to offer a cleaner and safer alternative to unorganised lead-acid e-rickshaws.
Key features include:
Lithium-ion battery
140 km range on a single charge
Fast charging – full charge in 4.5 hours
3-year battery warranty
Strong monocoque body for improved safety
Sharma highlighted that Riki provides a superior and more reliable mobility solution, especially compared to traditional lead-acid e-rickshaws.
Once Bajaj Auto completes its 200-city rollout and receives customer response, it will begin assessing detailed sales volume potential and future expansion strategies. The company aims to position Riki as a mainstream choice in India’s fast-growing electric mobility segment.

Bajaj Auto’s plan to launch the Riki e-rickshaw across 200 cities by early 2026 shows its strong commitment to clean and reliable last-mile mobility. After studying customer feedback from eight pilot cities, the company will expand into major markets across five states. With its lithium-ion battery, 140 km range, and safer design, Riki aims to offer a modern and eco-friendly alternative to traditional e-rickshaws.
