Ashok Leyland has strengthened its presence in eastern India by opening a new light commercial vehicle (LCV) dealership in Rourkela. This move is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to expand its reach in key regional markets where demand for small and efficient cargo vehicles is growing rapidly.
The newly inaugurated dealership is located at Brahmani Tarang in Vedvyas and is operated by channel partner SteelEx India. This facility is a fully integrated 3S setup, offering sales, service, and spares under one roof.
Equipped with 12 service bays, the dealership aims to improve both vehicle availability and after-sales support for customers in and around the region. With this addition, Ashok Leyland now has seven LCV dealerships in Odisha, strengthening its service footprint in the state.
With the Rourkela outlet now operational, Ashok Leyland’s LCV network has crossed 945 customer touchpoints across India. This expansion reflects the company’s focus on enhancing accessibility and support for its growing customer base.
Odisha has emerged as an important market for LCVs, especially due to rising demand in last-mile delivery and intra-city logistics. The company is actively investing in such regions to meet increasing transportation needs.
Ashok Leyland offers a diverse portfolio of light commercial vehicles designed to meet different business requirements. Its lineup includes BADA DOST, DOST, SAATHI, PARTNER, and MiTR. Each product caters to specific payload capacities and applications.
SAATHI Targets Sub-2-Ton Segment
The SAATHI is a recent addition to the portfolio, positioned in the sub-2-ton category. It is powered by a 45 hp engine that delivers 110 Nm of torque. The vehicle offers a payload capacity of 1,120 kg and features a larger loading area compared to others in its class, making it suitable for small businesses and urban transport needs.
The BADA DOST range is built on a dedicated platform and comes in multiple variants such as i2, i3+, i5, i5XL, i5+, and i6. It is powered by an 80 hp BS6-compliant engine and is designed for applications that require higher payload capacity and longer load bodies.
This range supports both intra-city and inter-city operations and includes practical features like a lower turning radius and higher ground clearance, enhancing usability across varied road conditions.
The DOST lineup, including DOST XL and DOST+ XL, continues to serve entry and mid-level cargo transport needs. These vehicles are widely used for last-mile delivery and small-scale logistics operations.
They are especially suited for operators looking for better efficiency and flexibility on short-haul routes.
In the higher payload category, the PARTNER range addresses the 4-ton segment. It is available in both 4-tyre and 6-tyre configurations and is built on an international platform.
Powered by a ZD30 CRDI engine, the PARTNER is designed for durability and higher load-carrying capacity, making it suitable for more demanding commercial applications.
The MiTR range extends Ashok Leyland’s offering into passenger transport. It includes variants designed for staff and school transportation.
The school bus version complies with safety regulations, while both variants are built for frequent stop-and-go operations commonly seen in urban environments.
The launch of the Rourkela dealership highlights Ashok Leyland’s commitment to strengthening its regional footprint. By expanding its dealership and service network, the company aims to support the rising demand for efficient and reliable transport solutions across India.
