Mahindra unveils CNG/CBG, ethanol, and electric tractors.
Advanced platforms: Yuvo Tech+ and OJA.
Supports net-zero 2070 goals.
Developed at Mahindra Research Valley.
Lower fuel costs and emissions for farmers.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., India’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, showcased its latest alternate-fuel tractor technologies at Agrovision 2025 in Nagpur. The event saw the presence of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, highlighting the national importance of cleaner and smarter farming solutions.
At the exhibition, Mahindra presented three advanced technology pathways that aim to reduce emissions and lower operating costs for farmers:
1. CNG/CBG-Powered Tractor
Built on the Yuvo Tech+ platform
Runs on CNG, compressed biogas, or a diesel–CNG dual-fuel mode
Offers cleaner fuel options and reduced dependency on conventional diesel
2. Ethanol Flex-Fuel Engine
Designed to operate on ethanol produced from sugarcane, maize, stubble, and farm waste
Helps improve the use of agricultural residues
Supports India’s push for ethanol blending and sustainable farming
3. Electric Tractor on OJA Platform
Features fast-charging capability
Promises lower operating costs
Developed for long-term clean energy adoption in agriculture
All three technologies were developed at Mahindra Research Valley, the company’s global R&D hub. Mahindra stated that these solutions align with India’s national goals of expanding clean energy use, supporting sustainable agriculture, and reducing emissions.
Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business, said the company is committed to accelerating India’s shift toward alternate fuels and contributing to the nation’s net-zero emissions goal for 2070.
Mahindra has been working on non-diesel tractor platforms for several years, including early prototypes of CNG and CBG tractors. According to the company, wider adoption of CNG, ethanol, biogas, and electric power can significantly reduce farmers’ running costs and lower reliance on traditional fuels.
Along with the alternate-fuel models, Mahindra and its Swaraj brand also showcased their full range of diesel tractors and farm implements, giving farmers a complete view of available and upcoming solutions.
Established in 1945, the Mahindra Group operates in over 100 countries and has a strong presence across sectors such as farm equipment, utility vehicles, IT services, renewable energy, logistics, real estate, and hospitality.

These innovations also support India’s broader clean energy and net-zero goals. Mahindra’s efforts highlight a major shift toward greener, more efficient, and affordable farming systems in the years ahead.
