Tractors have become indispensable for farming, easing various agricultural tasks. Recognizing their importance, governments often provide subsidies on tractors and related equipment to assist farmers. In a recent development, the state government has launched a scheme offering substantial subsidies on mini tractors and equipment.
Mini tractors, also known as hand-operated tractors, possess lower power compared to standard tractors. They are particularly suitable for small farms due to their agility and affordability. Mini tractors typically range from 11 to 36 horsepower (HP).
The cost of a mini tractor varies based on its horsepower, ranging from Rs 2.45 lakh to Rs 9 lakh in the Indian market. Smaller models with 10 to 15 HP can cost between one to two lakh rupees, while those with 15 to 20 HP may range from Rs 2 to 3 lakh.
Under the agricultural equipment grant scheme, the state government offers up to 90 percent subsidy on mini tractors and related accessories. Eligible farmers can receive a subsidy of up to Rs 3.15 lakh on their purchase. In cases where demand exceeds the target, beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system.
Farmers interested in availing of the subsidy must provide certain documents during the application process. These include an Aadhaar card, residence certificate, ration card, bank account details, passport-size photo, mobile number linked to Aadhaar, email ID, and Self Help Group Certificate.
The scheme targets farmers in Maharashtra, specifically members of Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist self-help groups. Both the president and secretary of the self-help group must belong to the scheduled category to qualify for the subsidy on mini tractors.
Interested farmers can apply for the scheme through the official website or visit the Social Welfare Department of their district for assistance. Applications are periodically invited, and eligible beneficiaries are provided with the scheme's benefits.
