JBM Electric Vehicles has taken another major step in expanding its global electric mobility business with the launch of its new ECOLIFE e12 electric city bus at Singapore Urban Mobility Week (SUMW) 2026. The launch marks an important milestone for the Indian electric bus manufacturer, as JBM Electric Vehicles becomes the first Indian company to launch an electric bus in Singapore.

The ECOLIFE e12 was officially launched on November 4, 2026, in Singapore by Dr. Shilpak Ambule, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore, and Mr. Nishant Arya, Chairman of JBM Electric Vehicles. The launch highlights JBM's growing international presence and its plans to strengthen its position in the global electric public transportation market.

JBM Electric Vehicles is the flagship company of the $4 billion JBM Group, a global Indian conglomerate. Through the ECOLIFE e12, the company aims to bring advanced electric bus technology, improved passenger safety and sustainable public transportation solutions to Singapore.

JBM ECOLIFE e12 Electric Bus: Lightweight Aluminium Body and Advanced Technology

The new JBM ECOLIFE e12 electric city bus has been developed with a lightweight monocoque full-aluminium body structure. This construction is designed to support a modern electric bus platform while offering strength and durability for public transportation operations.

The bus also comes equipped with advanced technology and intelligent systems designed to meet Singapore's transportation regulations. One of its important features is the Intelligent Transport System (ITS), which supports connected and smarter public transport operations.

JBM has also integrated advanced telematics into the ECOLIFE e12, providing 24x7 access to the vehicle's health status. This allows operators to monitor important vehicle information and stay updated about its operating condition, helping them manage fleet operations more effectively.

With these features, JBM aims to offer a technologically advanced electric bus that meets the requirements of modern urban transportation systems.

JBM ECOLIFE e12 Gets ADAS and Multiple Advanced Safety Features

Passenger and road safety are among the major focus areas of the new ECOLIFE e12 electric bus. The vehicle comes equipped with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology to help drivers identify potential risks, detect obstacles and reduce the possibility of human errors during operation.

The electric bus includes several advanced safety technologies, including:

  • Forward Vehicle Collision Warning System (FVCWS): Helps alert drivers about potential forward collisions.

  • Lane Departure Warning System: Alerts the driver when the vehicle unintentionally moves out of its lane.

  • Pedestrian and Cyclist Collision Warning (MOIS): Helps detect and warn drivers about pedestrians and cyclists around the vehicle.

  • Blind Spot Detection: Helps identify vehicles and other road users in areas that may not be clearly visible to the driver.

  • Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning: Monitors signs of driver fatigue and reduced attention.

  • Advanced Driver Distraction Warning: Helps identify driver distraction and supports safer driving.

  • 360-Degree Camera: Provides a wider view around the vehicle to improve driver visibility.

  • Fire Detection and Suppression System (FDSS): Helps detect fire-related risks and supports emergency safety measures.

  • Cybersecurity Protection: Includes protection against potential cyberattacks on the vehicle.

Together, these technologies are designed to improve driving safety, support better road awareness and provide safer transportation for passengers in busy urban environments.

JBM Electric Vehicles Strengthens APAC Presence with Singapore Headquarters

Alongside the ECOLIFE e12 launch, JBM Electric Vehicles is strengthening its international business operations by establishing its Asia-Pacific (APAC) headquarters in Singapore.

The new regional headquarters will act as the company's central base for marketing and sales, aftersales services, business operations and strategic partnerships across the APAC region.

This move is expected to help JBM EV work more closely with customers, transport operators and business partners in different Asian markets. It also reflects the company's strategy of combining its global manufacturing capabilities with local market support.

JBM believes that providing strong local support is important for the successful deployment and long-term operation of electric bus fleets. Its Singapore headquarters will therefore play an important role in developing customer relationships and supporting its regional expansion plans.

JBM EV Has 10,000 Electric Bus Orders and 20,000-Bus Annual Manufacturing Capacity

JBM Electric Vehicles enters the Singapore market with an established global manufacturing and operating network. The company currently has an orderbook of around 10,000 electric buses, which are scheduled for deployment across different global markets over the next two years.

To support this demand, JBM has established one of the world's largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facilities in India. The facility has an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses, giving the company the manufacturing strength to cater to large-scale domestic and international requirements.

JBM EV also highlights its experience in real-world electric bus operations. More than 4,000 JBM electric buses are currently operating across different geographical markets.

According to the company, these buses have collectively covered more than 500 million electric kilometres and transported over 1.5 billion passengers. JBM also reports that its electric buses have helped save more than 650 billion kg of CO2 emissions to date.

These figures underline the company's experience in electric public transportation and its ability to support large-scale fleet deployments across different markets.

JBM E-Verse: Complete Electric Mobility Ecosystem

Apart from manufacturing electric buses, JBM Electric Vehicles is also developing an integrated electric mobility ecosystem called JBM E-Verse. The ecosystem brings together the company's in-house capabilities across several important areas of electric transportation. These include fast-charging infrastructure, advanced lithium-ion batteries, energy storage systems, power infrastructure and a supporting network designed to ensure zero downtime.

By combining electric buses with charging solutions, battery technology and supporting infrastructure, JBM aims to provide end-to-end electric mobility solutions rather than limiting its business to vehicle manufacturing.

The E-Verse ecosystem also reflects the company's approach of developing electric mobility technologies in India for international markets. This integrated approach can help transport operators manage different aspects of electric bus operations through a connected ecosystem, supporting more reliable and efficient public transportation services.

Nishant Arya Highlights JBM's Vision for Sustainable Global Mobility

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Nishant Arya, Chairman of JBM Electric Vehicles, highlighted the company's mission to decarbonise public transportation and establish new global benchmarks for sustainable mobility.

He explained that JBM EV believes the future of green mobility depends on developing vehicles that combine innovation, sustainability and user-focused design. According to him, electric mobility is not only about reducing carbon emissions but also about improving the quality of life by making transportation smarter, safer and more accessible for individuals and communities.

Arya also highlighted the importance of partnerships and customer collaboration in developing better electric mobility solutions. He said the company continuously listens to customer requirements and works on new ideas and technologies to address their operational challenges.

He further emphasised JBM's commitment to investing in customer support and following a global approach while acting locally to address the changing requirements of the electric mobility industry.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sarvesh Suri, Regional Vice President for APAC at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, is also scheduled to visit the JBM pavilion at Singapore Urban Mobility Week 2026 to experience the company's latest electric mobility innovations.
