Tata Motors, a leading name in India's commercial vehicle sector, has announced a major achievement with its fleet of 3,100 electric buses. These buses, operating in 10 cities, have collectively covered over 25 crore kilometres. This distance is roughly equivalent to traveling around the Earth more than 6,200 times.
Significant Environmental Impact
On average, each of these electric buses covers 200 kilometers a day, making a positive impact on reducing air pollution and promoting sustainable public transportation. The fleet's efforts have helped save around 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 tailpipe emissions.
Growing Acceptance of Electric Mobility
Mr. Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited, highlighted that 15 crore kilometres of this total were covered in the past 12 months. This shows a growing acceptance of electric buses among commuters and state transport agencies. He thanked stakeholders for their continued support and reaffirmed Tata Motors' commitment to improve urban mobility with safer, greener solutions.
Advanced Features and High Efficiency
Tata Motors' electric buses are equipped with features such as air suspension for comfort, hydraulic lifts for differently-abled passengers, and ergonomic seating.
Available in 9-meter and 12-meter configurations, the buses deliver robust performance with over 95% uptime, ensuring reliable and smooth travel across cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jammu, Srinagar, Lucknow, Guwahati, and Indore.
