Cityflo has partnered with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), which manufactures BharatBenz buses, and its dealer partner Autobahn Trucking Corporation to establish an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-standard workshop at its parking depot in Thane, Maharashtra.
Named SpotServe Plus, the facility will exclusively service Cityflo’s fleet of more than 300 BharatBenz buses. It marks the first time an OEM-standard workshop has been established within a single bus operator’s yard in India.
SpotServe Plus to Reduce Bus Downtime
The new workshop is designed to reduce bus downtime by bringing maintenance and repair services directly to Cityflo’s depot. It will maintain stocks of genuine BharatBenz spare parts and employ BharatBenz-trained technicians to carry out repairs overnight.
This arrangement will help Cityflo avoid the time and operational challenges involved in taking buses to distant service centres, including travel time and waiting for service appointments. Faster repairs are expected to improve vehicle availability and support more efficient fleet operations.
Rushabh Shah, Co-founder of Cityflo, highlighted the impact of maintenance delays on bus operations. He said that depending on the problem, a bus could remain out of service for anywhere between four hours and two weeks. Travel to a distant service centre and waiting for an available service slot can extend downtime, even for simple repairs.
According to Shah, the new facility will provide the operational support Cityflo needs to expand its services quickly and efficiently.
Partnership Supports Fleet Expansion
The establishment of the on-site maintenance facility has also resulted in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the companies for the addition of 200 more BharatBenz buses to Cityflo’s fleet.
The agreement combines vehicle expansion with dedicated maintenance support, helping Cityflo prepare its fleet for growing operational requirements. With genuine parts, trained technicians and overnight repair capabilities available at its depot, the company aims to reduce maintenance-related disruptions as its fleet grows.
