Tata Motors CV Sales Jump 37% in July 2026 as Exports Surge 128%, Domestic Demand Remains Strong

Tata Motors reported a strong performance in its commercial vehicle (CV) business in July 2026, with total sales rising 37% year-on-year (YoY) to 39,641 units, compared to 28,956 units sold in July 2025. The company's growth was supported by healthy demand in both domestic and export markets, with every major commercial vehicle segment recording positive year-on-year growth.
The latest sales data also highlights Tata Motors continued leadership across heavy trucks, intermediate and light commercial vehicles, passenger carriers, and small cargo vehicles.

Tata Motors Records Strong Domestic and Export Growth
According to the company's July 2026 sales report, domestic commercial vehicle sales increased 28% to 33,876 units, up from 26,432 units in July 2025.
The biggest highlight of the month was the company's export business. Tata Motors exported 5,765 commercial vehicles, compared to 2,524 units in the same month last year, registering a massive 128% YoY growth. The sharp rise in exports significantly contributed to the company's overall commercial vehicle performance.
HCV Trucks Lead Domestic Growth
Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) Trucks emerged as Tata Motors' strongest-performing domestic segment during July 2026.
The company sold 8,973 HCV trucks, compared to 6,735 units in July 2025, registering a 33% year-on-year growth. Demand remained healthy from infrastructure projects, construction activities, mining operations, and long-haul freight transportation.
ILMCV Trucks Continue Steady Growth
The Intermediate, Light and Medium Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) truck segment also delivered positive results.
Sales increased to 6,100 units in July 2026 from 5,068 units a year earlier, reflecting 20% YoY growth. The segment benefited from steady regional cargo movement and strong distribution activity across the country.
Passenger Carrier Sales Rise 25%
Tata Motors sold 5,938 passenger carriers during July 2026, compared to 4,749 units in July 2025.
The segment recorded 25% year-on-year growth, supported by rising demand from employee transportation, educational institutions, and public mobility services.
SCV Cargo & Pickup Segment Posts 30% Growth
The Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV) Cargo and Pickup category remained another major contributor to Tata Motors overall sales.
The company sold 12,865 units in July 2026, up from 9,880 units in July 2025, registering 30% YoY growth. Growing demand from e-commerce companies, last-mile delivery services, and small business logistics continued to support the segment.

What the Sales Numbers Show
The attached sales chart clearly shows that every commercial vehicle category reported double-digit growth in July 2026. HCV Trucks recorded the highest growth among domestic segments at 33%, while SCV Cargo & Pickup remained the largest contributor by volume with 12,865 units sold. The most impressive performance came from exports, which surged 128%, helping Tata Motors achieve an overall 37% increase in commercial vehicle sales.
