Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma has flagged off EKA Mobility's electric buses in Jaipur, marking a major step towards sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation in the state. The launch ceremony was attended by senior government officials and transport authorities, highlighting Rajasthan's commitment to clean, green, and future-ready mobility solutions.
The flag-off marks the first phase of deployment of 876 electric buses awarded to EKA Mobility in partnership with Chartered Speed under the Government of India's PM e-Bus Sewa initiative. The buses will be operated and deployed by Chartered Speed across eight cities in Rajasthan, helping strengthen urban transport while reducing pollution.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said the company is proud to support Rajasthan's journey towards cleaner transportation. He noted that EKA's electric mobility solutions are already serving communities across several states, including Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. Mehta added that the company's growing presence reflects its commitment to supporting India's transition to green mobility while improving public transportation through modern and sustainable solutions.
The electric buses are built on EKA Mobility's advanced EV platform and come equipped with intelligent fleet management systems, enhanced safety features, superior passenger comfort, and zero tailpipe emissions.
A key feature of these buses is the dedicated wheelchair lift door mechanism, which enables safe and convenient boarding and deboarding for Divyang passengers and wheelchair users. This initiative aims to make public transportation more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
EKA Mobility, formally known as Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., is one of India's leading electric commercial vehicle manufacturers. The company has equity partnerships with Japan's Mitsui & Co. and the Netherlands-based VDL Groep.
The company operates one of India's largest electric commercial vehicle portfolios, including electric buses, trucks, and small commercial vehicles, and continues to play a key role in the country's electric mobility transformation.
The deployment of 876 EKA Mobility electric buses marks a significant milestone in Rajasthan's clean transportation journey. By introducing modern, accessible, and zero-emission buses across eight cities, the state is taking a major step toward sustainable urban mobility. The initiative will not only reduce environmental impact but also improve passenger convenience and support India's broader goal of accelerating the adoption of green public transportation solutions.
