Tata Motors signed an MoU with MoRTH on June 18, 2026.
Eligible trucks and buses will get an 8% ex-showroom discount.
Scheme aims to replace old commercial vehicles in Delhi-NCR.
EV discounts will match equivalent ICE vehicle categories.
Additional benefits may be available through scrapping incentives.
Tata Motors has joined the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Commercial Vehicle Replacement Scheme for the Delhi-NCR region. On June 18, 2026, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MoRTH, becoming part of the government's initiative to replace old and highly polluting commercial vehicles operating in the national capital region.
As India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors will now provide special benefits to fleet owners and transport operators purchasing eligible new trucks and buses under the scheme.
Under the agreement, Tata Motors will offer an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible commercial vehicles purchased through the replacement programme.
For electric commercial vehicles, the discount will be limited to the level applicable to an equivalent Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle within the same Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) category. This ensures that the benefits remain aligned across different vehicle segments.
The Commercial Vehicle Replacement Scheme is part of the central government's larger effort to reduce air pollution in the Delhi-NCR airshed. Older trucks and buses are among the major contributors to vehicular emissions, and replacing them with newer, cleaner models is expected to improve air quality in the region.
The programme encourages fleet operators to retire ageing commercial vehicles and switch to modern, more fuel-efficient, and lower-emission alternatives.
A key feature of the scheme is the direct participation of vehicle manufacturers. Through MoUs with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), vehicle buyers can receive manufacturer-level discounts in addition to any scrapping or replacement incentives that may already be available under government policies.
This combined benefit aims to make vehicle replacement more affordable for commercial vehicle owners.
Tata Motors is among several OEMs that have signed similar agreements with MoRTH under the same framework. The inclusion of leading commercial vehicle manufacturers is expected to strengthen the programme and encourage faster adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles across the Delhi-NCR region.
The move highlights the growing collaboration between the government and the automotive industry to reduce emissions, modernize vehicle fleets, and support cleaner transportation solutions in one of India's most pollution-affected regions.

Tata Motors participation in the MoRTH Commercial Vehicle Replacement Scheme is a significant step toward reducing pollution in the Delhi-NCR region. The 8% ex-showroom discount on eligible trucks and buses will encourage fleet operators to replace ageing vehicles with cleaner and more efficient models. By working closely with the government, Tata Motors is supporting efforts to modernize commercial vehicle fleets, improve air quality, and promote sustainable transportation across the region.
