Montra Electric has introduced a 15-minute rapid-charging option for its SUPER AUTO FX electric passenger three-wheeler in partnership with Exponent Energy. Initially available in Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi NCR, the new charging facility aims to help drivers spend less time charging and more time earning through passenger services.

The offering addresses one of the key concerns among electric three-wheeler drivers: charging downtime during daily operations. With a claimed on-road range of more than 150 km, the SUPER AUTO FX combines rapid charging with features designed for commercial passenger mobility.

Montra Electric SUPER AUTO FX Gets 15-Minute Charging

The new charging option is designed to reduce the time drivers spend waiting for their vehicles to recharge. For passenger three-wheeler operators, shorter charging breaks can help increase vehicle availability and provide more opportunities to complete trips throughout the day.

According to Exponent Energy, its rapid-charging technology supports charging from 0% to 100% in 15 minutes. The system combines the battery pack, pump and connector to enable this charging performance.

Rapid charging remains relatively uncommon in the L5M electric passenger three-wheeler segment. Through this partnership, Montra Electric and Exponent Energy are extending their existing collaboration in commercial electric mobility to passenger transportation.

Exponent Energy's Charging Network Across Three Cities

SUPER AUTO FX customers will initially be able to access compatible rapid chargers through Exponent Energy's network of more than 200 chargers across Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi NCR.

The companies have not announced a timeline for expanding the service to other cities. Therefore, the initial availability will depend on access to compatible charging facilities in these three markets.

Earlier in October, Montra Electric, Exponent Energy and Exponent ONE introduced ONE Pass, a pay-per-use Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) offering. It is designed to align energy expenses with vehicle usage for Montra Electric's three-wheelers.

Exponent Energy founder and CEO Arun Vinayak said the partnership builds on the companies experience with electric cargo three-wheelers and extends their collaboration to passenger vehicles. He also highlighted the role of Exponent Energy's battery technology and charging network, alongside a battery warranty of 2.25 lakh km.

The SUPER AUTO FX offers a claimed on-road range of more than 150 km, making it suitable for passenger transport operations that require regular daily use.

• Gradability: 32%

• Convenience features: Hill-hold assist, push-button starting, an in-cabin light and a 12V mobile-charging socket

• Vehicle warranty: Five years or 2.25 lakh km, as stated by the company

The company has not disclosed the detailed terms and conditions governing the vehicle warranty or the rapid-charging facility in the announcement.

Deependra Sharma, CEO of e-3W at Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility), said charging time has been a concern for drivers because longer charging breaks can reduce the hours available for passenger operations. He described the 15-minute charging option as a solution aimed at addressing this challenge.
