LeafyBus has announced ambitions to install 50 electric buses within the next 12 months. The new fleet will run on a variety of routes around Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, with plans to extend into Eastern and Southern India in the future.

To help with this expansion, LeafyBus has formed a collaboration with JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd. LeafyBus will acquire 200 electric buses from JBM as part of this arrangement. 

The first 50 buses will be introduced in the first year, with the remaining 150 introduced the following year. According to reports, these buses are intended to meet India's growing demand for better transit options.

LeafyBus' new electric buses are believed to include many features designed to improve passenger safety and comfort. These include CCTV surveillance, live tracking, and the availability of a "Bus buddy" to assist passengers on board.

The company claims that all buses will meet safety regulations, including Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). LeafyBus further states that high levels of interior cleanliness will be maintained to ensure passenger comfort.

LeafyBus claims to cover the whole consumer journey by providing a hassle-free travel experience to all customer groups. According to reports, the new buses would include high-speed chargers modeled after international best practices, as well as greater battery capacity for long-range travel. The company says that maintenance support will be provided throughout North India.

Rohan Dewan, CEO and Founder of LeafyBus, commented on the development, adding that the collaboration with JBM EV is an important step toward revolutionizing transportation in India.

Animesh Sharma, CIO and Co-Founder, stated that the company is focused on building technology solutions to improve electric bus operations and ticketing systems.
