Fast-charging corridors will be set up along major roads like the Ring Road and Outer Ring Road to make EV charging easily available across the city.

Key Highlights:

  • Delhi EV Policy 2.0 aims to replace CNG auto-rickshaws, taxis, and light commercial vehicles with EVs.
  • The entire bus fleet in Delhi will transition to electric buses.
  • More public charging stations will be installed.
  • A state EV fund will be created to support EV adoption incentives.
  • The policy promotes job creation in EV sales, servicing, and battery management.

The Delhi government has launched the Delhi EV Policy 2.0 to promote electric vehicles. The EV Policy 2.0 aims to gradually replace CNG auto-rickshaws, taxis, and light commercial vehicles with EVs. The goal is to ensure that 95% of new vehicle registrations are electric by 2027.

The policy also plans to switch Delhi’s entire bus fleet to electric buses, improving public transport and making it more eco-friendly. To support this shift, the government is offering incentives for electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, e-light commercial vehicles, and electric trucks, encouraging more people to choose cleaner vehicles.

EV Charging Infrastructure

The policy also focuses on expanding EV charging infrastructure. The government plans to add more public charging stations and require new buildings and public spaces to have charging facilities. Fast-charging corridors will be set up along major roads like the Ring Road and Outer Ring Road to make EV charging easily available across the city.

Government's Vision for EV Adoption

According to the Transport Department, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh reviewed the policy, which aims to speed up the city’s shift to electric vehicles and keep Delhi as a leader in EV adoption.

A main part of the policy is the creation of a state EV fund to support incentives for EV buyers. The EV fund will be financed through green levies, pollution cess, and aggregator license fees. The government is also pushing for commercial fleet electrification with stricter rules to ensure policy compliance. Additionally, the policy focuses on skill development and job creation, aiming to generate employment in EV sales, servicing, and battery management.

CMV360 Says

Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is a big step toward cleaner transport. More charging stations and purchase incentives will help people switch to EVs. Shifting buses and commercial vehicles to electric will also improve air quality. However, proper planning and execution are needed to meet these goals on time.
