The CAT 355 is powered by a CAT C13B engine, which delivers 332 kW, equivalent to 445 HP. The machine has an operating weight of up to 54,000 kg, positioning it among the heavy-duty excavators designed for challenging construction and excavation requirements.

CAT 355 Excavator: Key Specifications

The new CAT 355 comes with specifications aimed at supporting high-productivity operations. The excavator offers a maximum system pressure of 35 MPa (350 bar), helping it handle demanding digging and material-handling applications.

Caterpillar is offering two bucket choices with the machine. Buyers can select a 4.0 cubic metre Severe Duty bucket or a larger 4.5 cubic metre Heavy Duty bucket, depending on the type of work and operating conditions.

The excavator is equipped with a 6.55-metre boom and a 2.5-metre stick. It also gets a 4,040 mm W-VG undercarriage width, providing the machine with a substantial working configuration for heavy-duty applications.

Three Operating Modes for Different Jobs

The CAT 355 gets three operating modes—Power, Smart and Eco. These modes allow operators to select machine performance based on the nature of the job.

The Power mode is designed for applications where maximum performance is required, while Smart mode is intended to balance machine output and efficiency. Meanwhile, Eco mode focuses on optimising machine operation for tasks where maximum power may not be necessary.

This flexibility can be useful for operators working across different excavation and construction applications, where machine performance requirements can vary from one job to another.

CAT 355 Focuses on Customer Support and Ownership

At Bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026, Caterpillar is also highlighting its range of customer support and ownership solutions alongside the new excavator.

Customers can opt for Extended Equipment Protection Plans, CAT Finance offers and customised Customer Value Agreements (CVAs). These services are aimed at providing customers with additional support during the ownership period.

Caterpillar is also displaying a range of attachments and equipment options for the CAT 355. These include buckets, hammer lines and tool kits, allowing customers to configure the excavator according to their specific application requirements.

CAT 355 EMI Offer and After-Sales Support

The company is also showcasing financing and after-sales support options for customers at the event. The CAT 355 is being promoted with an EMI offer of ₹4,85,000*.

Caterpillar is further highlighting its CVA support commitment, which includes next-day parts availability and two-day repair support. Customers visiting the Aftermarket Area at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 can get more information about the excavator, finance schemes, attachments and support packages.

What Makes the CAT 355 Stand Out?

With a 445 HP engine, operating weight of up to 54,000 kg, 35 MPa maximum system pressure and bucket capacities of up to 4.5 cubic metres, the CAT 355 is positioned as a heavy-duty excavator for demanding construction and excavation work.

Its three operating modes and multiple bucket configurations further allow the machine to be adapted to different job requirements. With the CAT 355, Caterpillar is targeting customers looking for high-output excavation equipment backed by financing and after-sales support solutions.
