Bajaj Auto, the world’s top manufacturer of 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers, has opened a new manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil. The grand opening was attended by the Governor of the state of Amazon along with other important guests, dealers, and business partners. Bajaj Auto now sells its vehicles in 100 countries worldwide.

The new plant spans 9,600 square meters and has cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. With cutting-edge engine assembly, vehicle assembly, and testing capabilities, the company can produce 20,000 units per year on a single shift.

Its location in Manaus offers significant fiscal benefits and is close to supply chains and major transport hubs. The plant will initially focus on manufacturing Dominar models, followed by Pulsar models when they become available for introduction.

The construction of the plant began in June 2023 and was ready for production within a year. The plant has ISO certification for its production processes and has started sourcing parts locally in Manaus. The first phase focused on the sourcing, assembly, and testing of Dominar models, with intentions to expand to other product series.

Bajaj do Brasil has effectively integrated local suppliers and is now obtaining crucial motorbike parts and components from Manaus.

Bajaj do Brasil plans to expand the plant further in the future to accommodate increased production capacity of up to 50,000 units per year.

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto Ltd., stated that the new plant enhances their ability to meet local demand. The Dominar brand has been well-received since its launch 18 months ago, and the new manufacturing capabilities will help expand its distribution network and product offerings.

"The increased manufacturing capabilities will enable us to expand our distribution network, develop new items, and fulfill our consumers' expanding demands. This plant also demonstrates our commitment to Brazil, to developing a collaborative environment and furthering our integration within the automotive industry," he added.
