The Rajasthan government has announced a major initiative to support farmers by providing interest-free loans. This scheme will benefit around 35 lakh farmers in the state. The government has set a target of distributing crop loans worth ₹23,000 crore under this program.

Under the scheme, farmers can borrow money without paying any interest. They only need to repay the principal amount of the loan. The state government will cover the interest from its budget, reducing farmers' financial burden.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma shared that 8,000 Gram Seva Samitis (village service cooperative societies) are operating in the state. These societies play a key role in supporting farmers, especially in rural areas. The government aims to include more women in these societies to boost their economic empowerment.
Under the "Cooperative Se Samriddhi Abhiyan," cooperative banking systems are being expanded to include dairy and fisheries committees. This will open new opportunities for farmers and animal herders, enabling better access to resources and financial tools like RuPay Kisan Credit Cards and micro ATMs.

The government is also focusing on forming new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently launched 10,000 new PACS, dairy, and fisheries cooperatives across India. These cooperatives will help strengthen the rural economy by offering easy access to resources and services at the local level.
The central government has set a target to form 2 lakh PACS over the next five years. These societies will be involved in 32 activities, including storage, fertilizer distribution, and water management. NABARD, NDDB, and NFDB are working together to make this plan successful by providing the necessary support and infrastructure.
To make financial assistance more accessible, RuPay Kisan Credit Cards and micro ATMs are being distributed to cooperative societies. These tools will help farmers get loans at a lower cost, making farming more affordable and sustainable.

The state government’s interest-free crop loan scheme is a major step towards easing financial pressure on farmers. Through cooperative banks, loans are provided with zero interest. Farmers who repay their loans on time can also benefit from additional interest subsidies under the Chief Minister Agriculture Loan Scheme and other programs.
The central government offers an interest subsidy of 2% per year on short-term crop loans up to ₹3 lakh. NABARD also provides an interest subsidy, allowing small and marginal farmers to access loans at reduced rates.
With these initiatives, the Rajasthan government aims to make farming more sustainable and profitable. By combining interest-free loans with cooperative support and advanced tools, farmers can improve their productivity and bring their produce to larger markets.
This initiative highlights the government's commitment to rural development and farmer welfare, ensuring financial stability and growth for the agricultural sector.
The Rajasthan government’s interest-free loan scheme, combined with cooperative support and financial tools, empowers farmers with reduced financial burdens and better resources. These efforts aim to boost rural development, enhance productivity, and create sustainable livelihoods, ensuring farmers’ economic stability while strengthening the agricultural sector for long-term growth and prosperity.
