The Indian government is making irrigation more affordable for farmers by offering subsidies on solar-powered pumps under the PM Kusum Yojana. This scheme allows farmers to get solar pumps ranging from 3 HP to 10 HP at a reduced cost. PM Kusum Yojana is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at helping farmers reduce their irrigation costs by switching to solar-powered pumps. The Yogi government is implementing this scheme under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy-2022, targeting the installation of 10,000 solar pumps in 2024-25.
