What is PM Kusum Yojana?

PM Kusum Yojana is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at helping farmers reduce their irrigation costs by switching to solar-powered pumps. These pumps provide a reliable and cost-effective solution for agricultural irrigation, increasing farmer’s crop yields. The Yogi government is implementing this scheme under the Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy-2022, targeting the installation of 10,000 solar pumps in 2024-25.

Solar Pumps and Subsidy Details

Farmers can get solar pumps in various capacities under this scheme:

  • 3 HP
  • 5 HP
  • 7.5 HP
  • 10 HP

The subsidy structure includes both central and state government contributions:

  • Farmers from Scheduled Tribes, Vantangiya, and Musahar communities: 100% subsidy, meaning they get solar pumps for free.
  • Farmers from other categories:
    • 30% Central Government subsidy
    • 60% State Government subsidy
    • Farmers only need to pay 10% of the pump's cost.

Cost for Farmers

The contribution farmers need to make depends on the pump’s capacity:

  • 3 HP (4.5 kW plant): ₹23,900
  • 5 HP (7.5 kW plant): ₹39,325
  • 7.5 HP (11.2 kW plant): ₹54,800
  • 10 HP (14.9 kW plant): ₹2,26,750

How to Apply

Farmers can apply online through the UPNEDA portal: upnedakusumc1.in.

Documents needed for application:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Residence Certificate
  • Land Papers (Khasra Khatauni)
  • Bank Passbook (for account details)
  • Bank draft of the farmer's contribution amount

Farmers who have already applied for the scheme can complete the process by submitting their contribution amount on the portal. Applications can also be submitted through e-Mitra kiosks or personal devices by December 15, 2024.
