Prime Minister Modi directly addressed farmers, stating that India has ample food grain reserves. The government has made full preparations to ensure smooth sowing for the upcoming Kharif season. He recalled the COVID-19 period, when global urea prices reached ₹3,000 per bag. Despite this, Indian farmers continued to receive urea at under ₹300 per bag.
Modi emphasized that the government has already arranged sufficient fertilizer supplies to handle emergencies. He assured that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent any disruption in agriculture. The government remains committed to supporting farmers, even during global crises.
India imports large quantities of fertilizer, crude oil, and gas from the conflict-affected region. Disruptions in shipping through the Hormuz Strait have affected supply chains. Uncertainty in diesel and LPG supplies directly impacts irrigation, transport, and farming costs for Indian farmers.
India relies heavily on imports for fertilizers like urea and DAP. Any interruption in these supplies could threaten the sowing season. Modi's address in Parliament sent a clear message to farmers. The government will ensure that there is no shortage of fertilizer, fuel, or food grains, regardless of global challenges.
The government's policy focuses on boosting domestic production, diversifying import sources, and providing affordable inputs to farmers. Agriculture in India is not just a tradition; it is the main source of income for millions. The government aims to reduce uncertainty for farmers, especially regarding crop prices and input availability.
For small farms, orchards, or intercropping, mini tractors are a practical choice. These tractors are compact, easy to operate, and fuel-efficient, making them suitable for Indian farming conditions. The Farmtrac Atom 26, for example, is a 26 HP mini tractor designed for small spaces and narrow corners. It offers a balance of power and efficiency for small-scale farmers.
